Nathan Fielder's New Show The Rehearsal Trailer Is Cryptic At Best

Nathan Fielder reveals the cryptic trailer for his new series coming to HBO, The Rehearsal. Fielder is a comedic writer and actor known for creating and starring in the unscripted comedy series Nathan For You, which features his ability to play the straight man in incredibly awkward situations. He is also the executive producer for the HBO series How To with John Wilson.

Now, Fielder has released the trailer for his upcoming series, The Rehearsal, although the brief trailer creates more questions than answers. The teaser shows Fielder watching a parent with their child from several different camera angles on a screen in front of him. The premise of the series is a world in which people are given the opportunity to rehearse their own lives, although whether the series is scripted or unscripted is not yet known. Fielder is writing, directing, starring, and executive producing the series.

From the trailer, if the show is a scripted series, it may be more ominous than Fielder's past work, as conveyed by the creepy ambient music and Fielder's voyeuristic role. However, with Fielder involved, some form of humor is expected, and the HBO series may differ entirely from the tone of the trailer, as part of Fielder's style is to subvert expectations. Fans of his work and newcomers alike will have to continue following what will be in store with The Rehearsal ahead of its airing on HBO.
