Deaths Coming in Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2, Teases Star

Stranger Things star, Noah Schnapp, teases major deaths in when season 4 returns for volume 2. After a nearly three year hiatus, the science-fiction horror series has returned to Netflix to record-breaking viewership. Schnapp stars as Will Byers in the popular 80's-themed show which follows a group of high school teenagers from Hawkins, Indiana as they once again battle the dark mysterious forces breaking through from the parallel dimension known as the Upside Down.

Set six months after events of season 3, the Byers family, along with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), have relocated to California to start a new life. However, the past has caught up to the family as Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) and Murray Bauman (Brett Gelman) travel to Russia to save Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) while Will, Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), and Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) track down Eleven to free her from the clutches of the government. Meanwhile in Hawkins, the remaining gang investigate a series of murders committed by a paranormal inter-dimensional entity known as Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), placing themselves in danger as the creature has set his sights on their friend Max Mayfield (Sadie Sink).

While speaking with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, Schnapp revealed that there are deaths coming in Stranger Things season 4 volume 2. The actor's revelation audibly shocked both the late night talk show host and his audience. Fallon jokingly criticized his guest for the tease then pressed for more information. Read the exchange between Schnapp and Fallon below.

Fallon: What can we say about [volume 2]?

Schnapp: We can expect from volume 2... We got some deaths coming. Some gore and a big --

Fallon: Wow! That's a big spoiler!

Schnapp: No, but --

Fallon: Dude, you just said something that you can't say.

Schnapp: No, but I didn't say who.

Fallon: ...You didn't say who? There's not that many people to choose from.

Schnapp: Well, you guys can assume that obviously someone's going to... (gestures cutthroat)

Fallon: No! We don't assume that!

Schnapp: No?

Fallon: No. We just think you're going to go to the mall and hang out, and like, chill.

Schnapp: Yeah. So, no. We're going to go to the mall and we're hanging out.

Fallon: So -- wow. Wow... Someone or some people?

Schnapp: Well, I'm done here because you're scaring me.

Although Fallon berated Schnapp that deaths occurring is a major spoiler, the actor is correct in his assumption that the audience should it expect it. Even the series' creators, the Duffer brothers, have teased probable major Stranger Things season 4 deaths. Each previous season of Stranger Things has featured the deaths of prominent characters such as Barb Holland (Shannon Purser) in season 1, Bob Newby (Sean Astin) in season 2, and Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery) in season 3. Season 4 will most likely be no different as a major character has yet to die.

Each of the seasons' major deaths happened to characters that were introduced during that season. However, it is possible that season 4 may include the death of an instrumental character who has been a part of the show for multiple years. A possible candidate for a ceremonious departure from Stranger Things is Murray. Season 4 has built up his character as an overtly heroic figure as he and Joyce venture into Soviet territory to free Hopper. He has flown an airplane, conned his way into a prison, and demonstrated superb fighting ability to save the lives of his friends. Creating such a heroic arc for Murray only strengthens the possibility that he may be one of the deaths featured when Stranger Things volume 2 lands on Netflix on July 1.
