Kim Kardashian Called Out For Fake Refillable SKKN Packaging

Kim Kardashian received more backlash for her skincare line after fans realized The Kardashians star isn't really using refillable packaging like she claimed. Kim announced her new skincare brand, SKKN, on June 1 and is preparing for its launch on June 21. The star shared that the line will feature nine products, which includes face wash, serums, toners and moisturizers. Kim also stressed that her products will come in refillable packaging to remain environmentally friendly. However, like all things the Kar-Jenners do, Kim was met with a lot of criticism. The star was immediately called out for seemingly stealing her brand name from Lori Harvey's company, SKN.

Along with those accusations, Kim is also in the middle of a trademark fight for her brand. In 2021, when Kim first trademarked the name SKKN, she was quickly hit with a cease-and-desist letter from the CEO of the Brooklyn-based skincare boutique SKKN+. Cydnie Lunsford founded the company in 2018 and believes her business could be harmed by Kim having a similar brand name to hers. Cyndie is a Black business owner, and fans have accused Kim for years of stealing from Black women. Kim has never admitted to the accusations and has only defended her choice to wear Black hairstyles like cornrows.

SKKN is back in the spotlight as Kim receives more criticism, this time about her packaging. TikTok environmentalist @acteevism shared a video from Kim's SKKN Instagram page where the brand claims to use refillable packaging. However, what the brand is actually using is reusable cases for the product. A user in the comments compared it to a decorative tissue box that would be on the outside of a cardboard tissue box. The user captioned the video, "@SKKN BY KIM I am available for consulting to make your packaging actually refillable (or at least revise your claims so you aren't greenwashing)."

Fans in the comments section were extremely disappointed in Kim. They felt that the cases actually used more packaging than if she wasn't trying to push refillable packages. The Kar-Jenners are no strangers to accusations that they're out of touch, and the latest SKKN scandal has fans thinking they haven't learned at all from their past mistakes. "Literally all the money and resources at their disposal and this is what they use it for...it's so sad that it's hilarious," one fan wrote.

It seems like Kim's efforts have once again backfired. She might want to do some more research into going green before she makes any other environmentally friendly decisions for her brand. Kim now has more than one issue with SKKN on her hands, which is scary enough. But with the launch date quickly approaching, she certainly has a lot on her hands. Hopefully, The Kardashians star will be more responsible when creating product packaging in the future and will be honest with her fans about what they're really getting with their purchase.
