Hideo Kojima & Gabe Newell Give Energy To Goku In Dragon Ball Video

A new Mega64 video that tells the Majin Buu Saga from Dragon Ball Z in five minutes features gaming icons Hideo Kojima and Gabe Newell giving Goku their energy for a Spirit Bomb, along with other gaming and Internet personalities. Mega64 has gradually been recreating the Dragon Ball Z Sagas in five-minute skits, with both the Frieza and Cell Sags completed years ago.

Mega64 is among the longest-running YouTube channels, with its earliest videos being uploaded back in 2006. The channel has uploaded different "Sweded" videos over the years, which are brief retellings of different video games and anime, including Final Fantasy VIINeon Genesis Evangelion, and Metal Gear Solid. The first Dragon Ball Z Sweded video was "The Frieza Saga in 5 Minutes" from 2015, where the multi-episode Dragon Ball Z Saga was retold with cheap costumes, toys, The Lord of the Rings-style perspective tricks, and plenty of fast cuts. It was followed by "The Cell Saga in 5 Minutes" in 2018, which is the most popular video on the channel to date, having garnered over 11 million views.

A new video on the Mega64 YouTube channel retells the Majin Buu Saga in five minutes, which involves battles that took place across multiple episodes happening in a matter of seconds. The Majin Buu Saga ended when Goku was able to use the Super Spirit Bomb to defeat Kid Buu, which required the people of Earth to give their energy to the attack. In "The Majin Buu Saga In 5 Minutes" video, this involves gaming personalities like Hideo Kojima and Gabe Newell helping to power up the Super Spirit Bomb, as part of a series of cameos.

Kojima and Newell weren't the only ones to help Goku, as in "The Majin Buu Saga In 5 Minutes," the Super Spirit Bomb was also helped by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and PlatinumGames founder Hideki Kamiya. The video also features cameos from different Internet personalities, including James Rolfe (better known as the Angry Video Game Nerd) and Scott Wozniak (Scott The Woz). Kojima, Newell, Kamiya, and Sakaguchi have all starred in Mega64 videos in the past, so it's not too surprising to see them return to the channel for brief cameos.

"The Majin Buu Saga in 5 Minutes" video marks the end of a seven-year journey, as all of the major Dragon Ball Z arcs have been abridged, and the video ended with a tone of finality for the series. This isn't to say that Mega64 couldn't come back in a couple of years and start shortening Dragon Ball Super, as there is plenty of material in that series that can be lampooned. It's possible that the YouTubers and gaming icons of the future can help power the Universe 7 Spirit Bomb against Jiren.
