How Uncharted Star Made Sure Her Chloe Frazer Was Game-Accurate

Sophia Ali, who plays Chloe Frazer in Uncharted, opens up about making the character accurate to her video game counterpart. Uncharted is based on Sony's hit video game franchise that kicked off in 2007 with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. The film adaptation is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who previously directed Zombieland and Venom. Tom Holland steps into the shoes of intrepid treasure hunter Nathan Drake, accompanied by fellow actors Mark Wahlberg, Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle, and Ali.

Ali's character, Chloe Frazer, was first introduced in 2009's Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Frazer is revealed to be a former love interest of the game's protagonist, Drake. Aside from being an in-demand treasure hunter, Frazer is also known to align herself with the criminal underworld, often putting her and Drake at odds. Frazer was eventually made the protagonist of her own spinoff game with 2017's Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Now, Frazer's popularity has brought her into the Uncharted film adaptation.

In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Ali was asked about the responsibility she felt bringing Frazer to life in Uncharted. Ali said, "It was fun," before also adding, "It was hard." Ali was then asked about the one aspect of Frazer she felt it was necessary to portray onscreen, to which she responded, "Probably just how sure of herself she is and her assertion." Frazer's ability to adapt and overcome in any situation stood out to Ali, who said, "She just trusts herself and that she's gonna figure it out." Check out Ali's comments from Screen Rant's exclusive interview below:

"It was fun. It was cool. It was hard."

"Probably just how sure of herself she is and her assertion. I feel like she just goes headfirst into any situation. Whether she even really knows how to navigate it or not. She just trusts herself and that she's gonna figure it out. Yes. Just that self-assurance."

Frazer is likely intended to be an essential character in the Uncharted film as an antagonistic foil and possible love interest for Holland's Drake. Drake's other central love interest in the video games is Elena Fisher, a reporter that eventually becomes his wife. Given that Elena is not credited in the Uncharted film, it's safe to assume Frazer will act as the central love interest. However, if Uncharted is successful, a sequel will surely follow, in which Elena may be introduced.

Ali has been acting since she was a child, with a resume dating back to 2003. She has previously appeared in the horror film Truth or Dare, which was released during her stint on Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Dahlia Qadri. With Uncharted, Ali may not be the headlining star, but she's proven herself a capable actress in her own right. As Uncharted hits theaters, audiences will get to see Ali's interpretation of Frazer and what part she plays in Drake's adventure.
