Mark Hamill has shared a fun edit that reimagines Nirvana's Nevermind album cover with a scene from Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back. American rock band Nirvana, started by the late Kurt Cobain, established themselves as one of the best-selling bands of all time across the late eighties into the early nineties. Their second studio album, Nevermind, sold 2 million copies within just four months of release, propelling it to the top spot on the Billboard Top 100. Over the years, the album has secured icon status with its instantly recognizable cover art that features a naked baby swimming towards a dollar bill.
Hamill originated the Star Wars franchise with his role as Luke Skywalker, the Jedi Master, and over the years has demonstrated his true passion for the character that he has now played for more than 40 years. His appearance in A New Hope started the phenomenon that ultimately followed, however, it was its sequel Empire Strikes Back that many people to this day argue is the greatest Star Wars film of all time. For many, Hamill’s Skywalker holds an intense amount of nostalgia, with Disney even recently tapping into this by featuring a young Luke Skywalker (achieved through impressive CGI) in two of their Disney+ series, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.
Now, Hamill has taken to Twitter to react to a fun fan edit that sees Luke Skywalker as the star of the Nevermind album cover. The edit includes a screenshot from a scene in Empire Strikes Back in which Luke is recovering in a Bacta tank after facing an attack from a Wampa. As Luke is suspended in liquid in the image, it draws a slight similarity to that of the original Nevermind cover, leading one fan to edit the dollar bill and Nevermind album logo onto it. Hamill shared the edit, captioning it "Love this idea for Nirvana's album!" before referencing the recent lawsuit that was filed by the former cover star. Check out Hamill's post below.

The edit is a nostalgic mix of two prominent pop culture icons that is sure to give any Star Wars or Nirvana fans a good laugh. As mentioned before, Hamill's adoration for his beloved character is certainly evident, with the actor frequently taking to social media to answer fan questions and react to posts such as the above. Hamill recently shared some exciting behind-the-scenes photos from the Wampa scene in Empire Strikes Back while offering up some fun trivia regarding the movie-making process.
Considering Hamill's reaction, it's fair to assume that the actor is somewhat of a Nirvana fan. Thanks to Hamill's sharing of the edit, it's likely that fans of The Empire Strikes Back will view the Bacta tank scene very differently whenever it pops up on screen from now on. Given the sudden reemergence of this character in Disney+'s new Star Wars series, it seems as though audiences could be seeing more of Luke Skywalker in the future, so it's certainly anyone's guess as to what he could be edited into next.
