A fan of The Punisher has made the character's iconic skull vest in real life using only cardboard. First released on Netflix in 2017, The Punisher ran for two popular seasons before ultimately getting canceled (along with all the other Marvel shows on the streamer). The character of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) was first introduced in Daredevil season 2 and quickly proved to be a hit with audiences due to his tragic backstory and no-nonsense approach to killing swathes of bad guys.
Despite its short run, the series developed a passionate fanbase, many of whom still root for the show to return in some form on another platform. After it was revealed last week that Netflix would be removing The Punisher, Daredevil, and the other Marvel series from their site at the beginning of March, interest in all of the shows in the Defenders' universe has been reignited. The shows will most likely end up on either Disney+ or Hulu, potentially opening the door for some type of revival for one or more of them. Considering the extremely graphic violence in The Punisher and Charlie Cox's recent cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, it seems that, if any shows are to be revived, it's most likely going to be Daredevil, not The Punisher.
In a new post on Reddit, The Punisher fan Daredevil246 shows his love for the series by recreating Frank Castle's distinctive skull vest. The vest is very close to what appears in the actual show, which is even more impressive with the realization that the whole thing is made out of cardboard. Castle's vest in the show has a very DIY-looking skull spray-painted on the front, something that Daredevil246 has been able to capture very accurately in his own creation. Check out the vest below:

Although The Punisher's future remains uncertain, it's clear that the show still has a loyal following. Unlike many of his contemporaries, Castle's approach to vigilantism is lethal, merciless, and often frightening, something that the skull vest makes abundantly clear. His crime-fighting attire is simple and practical, and the spray-painted skull is really the only flourish of style the character gives himself. The fan-made vest, while only made out of cardboard, captures the DIY nature of the show's costume perfectly, right down to the drips of paint in the skull's eye socket.
If the Marvel Netflix shows do find a new home on Disney+, it feels like a long shot that The Punisher will get a season 3. The property's graphic violence makes it quite an outlier in terms of Marvel's usual content, but neutering the show and toning down its more brutal aspects would just disappoint its many fans. Although The Punisher's future remains uncertain, the existing two seasons are clearly still resonating with people and inspiring cool, creative pieces of cosplay.
