For the sixth week in a row, Disney’s Encanto hit number one on Billboard’s 200 chart. People are blown away by the film’s enriching story and diverse characters, and the soundtrack has become so adored it’s made its way onto radio broadcasts across the country.
This solidifies that Encanto is one of Disney’s most loved films since Frozen. Fans have been making their love for the film known through fan art, music covers, and cosplay. The characters wear clothes that suit their individual personalities while still being true to the time period they take place in. This means that the outfits of the main characters are both fun and simple to recreate and people across the world are incorporating clothing and designs from the movie into their costumes.
This cosplay completely captures Camilo Madrigal’s mischievous personality, shown through Encanto's funniest quotes. Camilo can shapeshift into any person he sees, a gift he uses to trick or mock his family members. Camilo is often described as a “theater kid,” and because of his gift, he loves to look like other people.
Devon, known as demonehebi_cos on Instagram, recreated Camilo’s look with a replica of his yellow ruana and curly brown hair. He also adds Camilo’s door in the background of his photo as a brilliant finishing touch. Camilo would go crazy for this detailed cosplay!
In her gorgeous cosplay, eeveengelion captures Isabela’s beauty with a replica of her dress and a mega-watt smile. She uses flowers as props, as Isabela has the ability to bloom flowers at will.
Throughout most of the film, Isabela is obsessed with perfection, thinking that being perfect is the only way to gain her family's approval, though she later reveals "I'm tired of perfect, I want real" in one of Encanto's most inspiring quotes. This cosplay certainly demonstrates Isabela’s main goal at the beginning of the film, to be absolutely perfect in every way. Also noticeable in this detailed cosplay is the flower embroidery on the top layer of her dress. It’s very similar to the shimmering embroidery on Isabela’s.
This cosplay by dwight_cosplay recreates the magical scene where Bruno uses his gift for Mirabel. Until his introduction, Bruno was just a mysterious uncle that the younger generation knew little about. His powers were something to be feared because bad luck seemed to follow anyone whose future he read.
Though his power is revealed to be less threatening than everyone thought, this cosplay still captures how frightening this scene was at first glance. Not only does he use photoshop to create the sandstorm that swirls around Bruno as he reads, but he also added a glowing effect to his own eyes.
Pepa Madrigal can control the weather with her emotions. This makes her rather anxious and nervous throughout the film. Still, her personality is also as bright as the sun. In this cosplay, Gabriella, who goes by _i.k.a.r.u.s_ on Instagram, expresses Pepa’s sunny disposition and rainy attitude.
Gabriella wears Pepa’s signature yellow sun dress and finishes the look with sun shaped earrings. Around her curly red hair, she wrapped a yellow hair band to frame her bangs. To frame her photos, Gabriella photoshopped rainbows and clouds, similar to the ones that follow Pepa in the movie.
Despite not having a gift, Mirabel Madrigal is generally optimistic and calm-headed. Mirabel's MBTI demonstrated throughout Encanto that she desires to be heard, seen, and understood by her family and the bright colors of her signature outfit certainly help with being seen! Mirabel wears bright colors and incorporates nature into her outfit. She’s thrown into many life-threatening situations as she tries to help the house secure its magic.
Her skirt and blouse combo turn out to be a great outfit for saving the family. Cosplayer kumalatte.cosplay dons a handmade replica of Mirabel’s butterfly skirt as well as a white blouse with butterflies around the neck. She also wears Mirabel’s circular green glasses to complete the look.
Makeup artist mares_hurt_1d has an Instagram page full of amazing makeup looks. In her cosplay of Dolores, she gives the character a glammed-out look that accentuates her beauty while mimicking some of Dolores’ more notable features, particularly her wide eyes. While Dolores doesn’t mean to, she usually finds herself involved in the family drama because of her gift. Her eyes are wide throughout the film, as if she’s always shocked, because of all the things she hears that she probably shouldn’t.
This skilled cosplayer uses eyeliner and eyeshadow to make her eyes appear larger. She also wears and earth-toned jewels around her neck, similar to the choker Dolores wears.
Another gorgeous Isabela cosplay, this time recreated by makeup artist and cosplayer megansoigne. In her cosplay, she combines Isabella’s look with elements of cottage core.
This makes for a pastel purple dress with layered shoulders and a sequined corset-like piece around her chest. She uses makeup to give herself rosy cheeks and a flower atop her glossy hair.
Agustín Madrigal wasn’t the most memorable of Encanto’s characters, but that didn’t stop cosplayer megachromatic, also known as Jose Rivera, from bringing this quirky, accident-prone father to life.
He wears a replica of Agustín’s three-piece suit including the pink flower on his vest. If that wasn’t enough, the cosplayer also grew a mustache to match the character, which shows true dedication to his art!
Luisa Madrigal was brought to life in this stunning cosplay by rafaellecriistine. Luisa is the family’s strength in more ways than one.
Showing off some impressive arms, this cosplayer wears a replica of Luisa’s embroidered white top and blue skirt. In place of Luisa’s hair tie, she uses a red bandana that totally fits the personality of the character. It also helps that this cosplayer looks just like Luisa!
Using the power of makeup magic, ana_costa_cosplay transforms herself into Alma Madrigal, Encanto's somewhat cliché, stressed-out Abuela. Ana is able to age herself into a seventy-five year old woman with silver streaks in her hair and fake wrinkles.
She copies Abuela’s modest make-up to stay true to her character and dons a handmade shawl with purple embroidery. In her photographs, she holds a candle like the magical one Abuela holds dear.
