Young Sheldon Season 5 Clip: Pastor Rob Flirts With Mary

A new Young Sheldon season 5 promo clip reveals Pastor Rob flirting with Mary. The Big Bang Theory prequel is returning this week with a fresh outing after taking its final hiatus. And with only two episodes left for the year, CBS is starting to wrap up some of its season-long plotlines, including the burgeoning relationship between Mary and Rob.

Rob is a fairly new character in Young Sheldon, but from the get-go, it's clear that his developing dynamic with Sheldon's mom could be detrimental to Mary's marriage. Missy was the first one to develop a crush on him as her Sunday School Youth Pastor, but it was eventually revealed that Mary was also starting to like Rob. In fact, the Cooper matriarch even dreamed of going to bed with Rob. Since then, The Big Bang Theory spin-off continued to develop their relationship, and while they haven't done anything inappropriate, the pair continues to grow closer which could ultimately make Mary and George's marital woes worse.

In a new promotional clip from Young Sheldon season 5 episode titled "White Trash, Holy Rollers and Punching People,", Rob is seen visiting the Cooper house and is just a tad too friendly with Mary as he teases her about smoking. Mary, on the other hand, doesn't seem to mind and even welcomes him to their home. Watch the clip below:

A previously released promotional image for Young Sheldon season 5, episode 21 reveals that Rob will also finally meet George, but it won't be in the Coopers' home. Instead, it will be over at Pastor Jeff's office. It's curious if this aforementioned scene takes place before or after that introduction. Nevertheless, it's a little bit bold on Rob's part to seek out Mary in her own house and make inside jokes with her knowing that she is married. For what it's worth, Mary doesn't seem to mind it. In fact, she looks really thrilled to see her work colleague. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for her husband.

It's worth noting that long before their introduction, George already harbors some ill feelings towards Rob after he caught him and Mary smoking in the church parking lot. The Coopers' marriage has been in a slow decline over the last couple of seasons and per The Big Bang Theory, it will only get worse. But, Sheldon's dad has always been blamed for that, especially with his cheating scandal. But based on this, it's possible that Mary also starts her own affair. In any case, expect the remainder of Young Sheldon season 5 to tackle more serious narratives as the Coopers deal with more problems towards the end of the year.
