Netflix is bringing back Geeked Week for 2022 and this year it is a five-day event that will celebrate all things geek, running from June 6-10. The week will include genre series, movies, and Netflix's line of video games, with each day showing a different aspect of the streaming network's offerings to all fans of geek properties.
To promote this release, Netflix released a new trailer that featured many of the streaming giant's geek offerings. These included hit series, major original movies, animated hits, video games, and an entire day of Stranger Things. The trailer was focused around the release of the brand-new much-anticipated Neil Gaiman adaptation, The Sandman, but it also included sneak peeks of several properties.
The biggest reveal in the Netflix Geeked Week 2022 trailer was a look at Neil Gaiman's The Sandman.
The new tease here was the first look at Gwendoline Christie's Lucifer, which was a spot-on representation of the character from the comic books. She also delivered a line straight out of the comics and it appears the Netflix series will play it straight with the Gaiman masterpiece.
The most popular geek series that Netflix ever produced was shown in great detail with Stranger Things. This show is so important to the streaming service that it will get an entire day for itself during Netflix Geeked Week 2022. The fourth season of Stranger Things will arrive on June 22 and the second part of the season hits Netflix on July 1 with Eleven living without her powers and Sheriff Hopper still alive but held captive in Russia.
There was more than one clip from the Netflix original series The Umbrella Academy. The included looks at past seasons, including shots of Tom Hooper and Elliot Page, who is no longer Vanya Hargreeves and has become Viktor Hargreeves. Based on the comic book series by My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way and adapted for Netflix by Steve Blackman and Jeremy Slater, season 3 arrives on June 22.
Netflix also offered up a short peek at The Gray Man. This is a new Netflix original movie starring Ryan Gosling as Court Gentry, a CIA black ops agent who goes on the run when he learns dark secrets about the agency. Chris Evans also stars as the man leading the manhunt for him. The movie hits Netflix on July 15.
Based on the Vertigo comic book series by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth premiered its first season in June 2021, albeit with some major differences from the Sweet Tooth comics, and it picked up a second season renewal one month later. In Sweet Tooth, the world has broken down after a pandemic that occurred around the same time that new children were born as hybrids of humans and animals. The main character is a young boy who is hunted by people who blame the hybrids.
Based on the best-selling videogame franchise, Resident Evil has already had six live-action movies in the original series and a reboot in 2021. The Resident Evil that showed up in the Netflix Geeked Week 2022 trailer is a new series based on the property.
The new series takes place in two timelines, the first in 2022 with twins moving to Raccoon City and in 2036 in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The series hits Netflix on July 14.
The Sea Beast is a Netflix animated series that showed up in the Netflix Geeked Week 2022 trailer. The movie is about a world where scary beasts rule the seas and the men who hunt them are heroes. This movie follows the best of them, Jacob Holland, and a stowaway - a young girl named Maisie.
Netflix is bringing back the Japanese Netflix series Alice in Borderland for a second season this December. The first season of the sci-fi series premiered in December 2020. Alice in Borderland featured two characters trapped in an abandoned Tokyo where they are forced to play games and if they fail, they die. Season 2 is scheduled for December 2022.
Based on the video game Cuphead, Netflix released The Cuphead Show! in February 2022, and despite it only being three months later, there is a second season coming this summer. The Cuphead Show! is described as an animated series following the loveable, impulsive scamp Cuphead and his cautious but easily swayed brother Mugman.
The Netflix Geeked Week 2022 trailer also showed a little about the upcoming anime spinoff series from the popular video game Cyberpunk 2077. Netflix calls Cyberpunk: Edgerunners a 10-episode story about a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future. It hits later in 2022 and Netflix will release the first footage in June.
Stephen King's son Joe Hill created the comic book series Locke & Key with artist Gabriel Rodriguez. The story followed the Locke family after the death of their father, who was killed by one of his students. It is there that they discover mysterious keys that open magical doors.
There have been two seasons of the adaptation on Netflix, and while the story was altered for TV, it has remained faithful in spirit. The third and final season will arrive later in 2022.
Chris Hemsworth returns to Netflix for the sci-fi movie Spiderhead, directed by Tron: Legacy's Joseph Kosinski. Miles Teller joins him in this futuristic story about convicts who can reduce their sentence if they volunteer for experiments using emotion-altering drugs. The movie is based on the short story by George Saunders and hits Netflix on June 17.

Perry is a long-time martial artist and stuntman who will make his directorial debut with this Netflix original movie about a hardworking father played by Foxx who cleans pools for a living. However, this is all a front for his real job as a vampire hunter. The movie arrives on August 12.
The final series that the Netflix Geeked Week 2022 trailer showcased was the epic fantasy series Shadow & Bone, which is based on the novels by Leigh Bardugo. Shadow & Bone is about a young orphan girl who has special gifts that could save her world from a great evil, but she learns that there are some people she can't trust. Season 2 is set to arrive in 2022.
