Kenobi: 10 Best Quotes From The First 2 Episodes | ScreenRant

The premiere of the new Kenobi series on Disney+ opened a new chapter in the Star Wars saga. Set ten years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, Kenobi is a fugitive of the Empire, constantly on the run from bounty hunters and inquisitors alike. Tasked with keeping the secret of the Skywalkers safe, Obi-Wan must do all within his power to protect Luke and Leia from the powers of the dark side.

The Star Wars saga has never been at a loss for words, and the new series is certainly no exception when it comes to powerful quotes. Although only two episodes have premiered thus far, fans of the series will find a wealth of great lines of dialogue worthy of the iconic series.

10 The Grand Inquisitor

“Their Compassion Leaves A Trail.”

Thanks to his infamy on Star Wars: Rebels, any version of the Grand Inquisitor outside of an animated medium is going to have some big shoes to fill. Presence and intimidation are everything when it comes to this character, and he has never been without something cold, cruel, or cunning to say.

Like most agents of the Sith, the Inquisitor's introduction is sparked by a threatening speech. To say that most villains have a powerful monologue is something of a cliché, but it's true. The way he describes Jedi tendencies leading to their own undoing like the quote mentioned above provides his first appearance with a weighty sense of presence, power, and command of the dark side of the Force.

9 Obi-Wan

“The Time Of The Jedi Is Over.”

Contrary to what the line might allude to, this is not an admission of defeat from Master Kenobi, rather it is a statement of the time in which they all live. With the execution of Order 66, the Clone Wars came to a bitter end and the age of the Empire arose from the ashes.

Obi-Wan isn't surrendering, but accepting the fate of the Jedi Order. He's not being dismal, but realistic. The surviving Jedi are either dead or hunted down like animals, and he knows the best thing to do to preserve himself and the future of Luke Skywalker is to remain hidden.

8 Uncle Owen

“Like You Trained His Father?”

Perhaps one of the greatest clap-backs in Star Wars history comes from Owen when he confronts Obi-Wan in the marketplace. Although Obi-Wan truly isn't to blame for the fall of Anakin Skywalker, he was the one he spent the most amount of time with aside from Chancellor/Emperor Palpatine. It's easy to see how Owen can make this assumption.

Even Palpatine admitted to Anakin that he was impressed by his Jedi abilities, abilities taught to him by his master. Owen isn't so much worried that Luke will fall into the wrong hands as he is that Obi-Wan won't be able to accurately learn from the past.

7  Uncle Owen

“Anakin Is Dead, Ben. And I Won’t Let You Make The Same Mistake Twice.”

Jumping off the previous quote, Owen continues his deconstruction of Obi-Wan's character by rubbing salt in the wound and bringing up the "death" of Anakin Skywalker. This isn't just a warning, it's an insult that throws the Jedi's past trauma in his bearded face.

Anakin Skywalker, the boy they found on Tatooine, the Padawan learner Kenobi trained, the Jedi brother he fought alongside in the Clone Warsthe friend he took under his wing is gone with Darth Vader taking his place. To say that this isn't a sensitive subject for Obi-Wan would be an outright lie, but it's also a reflection of his soul and his grief.

6 Princess Leia

Then I guess I Don’t Need Manners Talking To You.”

Princess Leia has always been quick with a quip, and it appears that started at an early age. This response to her cousin's treatment of what he calls "lesser lifeforms" is not only a smart remark, it cuts to the quick to put a snobby noble in his place, a talent that Leia would again display before Grand Moff Tarkin in A New Hope.

Although the viewers don't get to spend a whole lot of time with Leia thus far, it's clear to see that she's far more resourceful, intelligent, and resilient than most kid characters. Remember, this is the girl who will be a general one day. That strength and resolve have to come from somewhere.

5 Reva

“Maybe That Stench Is Your Failure.”

Although Reva is a new player in the galaxy, she's already made an excellent first impression. She isn't just a powerful Inquisitor, she's tired of playing second banana to her commanding officer. Her verbal clashes with the commanding Grand Inquisitor are certainly some of the best displays of her character.

We start to see that Reva cares more about her conquest over Kenobi than the Inquisition's goal of eradicating the surviving Jedi, an individuality that's often frowned upon in the empire. But Reva's true failure isn't departing from orders, but letting an ambitious powerhouse go rogue under his watch.

4 Reva

“I Don’t Want Them To Catch Him, I Want Them To Squeeze Him.”

Reva continues displaying her tenacity and animosity towards Kenobi as she hunts him and Leia down on Daiyu with assistance from all the local bounty hunters. She doesn't just want him caught by the scum and villainy that populate the planet, she wants him trapped like a rat so she can have him to herself.

At this point, it's unknown just what Reva wants with him or what her connection to the old master might be, but there's definitely something personal happening here. Hopefully, more will be revealed as the miniseries progresses.

3 The Grand Inquisitor

“Kenobi Is The Last Ember Of A Dying Age, Extinguish Him.”

This line from the Grand Inquisitor isn't just a callous remark on Kenobi being the last of his kind, it's a warning to his minions hidden within a mocking observation. As stated previously, presence and power are two very important elements, and the Inquisitor takes careful caution to make sure to get his point across without letting his mask of intimidation slip.

Kenobi has more than a sterling reputation and even he knows it. The deadliest enforcers outside of Darth Vader even have to acknowledge that taking down Kenobi won't be like hunting the average Jedi.

2 Reva

“He’s Alive, Obi-Wan. Anakin Skywalker Is Alive.”

The final confrontation of the second episode is a game of cat and mouse between Reva and Kenobi, with the Inquisitor taunting him and revealing that his former apprentice is still alive. Naturally, this is a shocking revelation that visually takes Obi-Wan a time to process.

The last time he saw Anakin he was a burning mass of flesh on the lava-licked shores of Mustafar, something logic dictates that no one could survive. Of course, Kenobi is going to be incredibly shocked beyond belief and how this knowledge impacts his character moving forward is something that will be interesting to see play out across the rest of the series.

1 Obi-Wan

“Anakin…”

So much can be said with so little, and nowhere is there a better example of this statement than Kenobi's final line of dialogue at the end of the second episode. This is Kenobi's revelation that his final battle with his apprentice wasn't as fatal as he originally thought. It's not just the realization that he's still alive, but that Vader is coming for him next.

Not only is it the line an absolute chiller to end on, but it's the perfect transition to the closing image of Vader in his bacta tank, accented by his iconic breathing. Needless to say, it's a great teaser for the following chapter, making the viewers want even more.
