Spotlight Hour occurs every Tuesday from 6 pm to 7 pm local time in Pokémon GO, and Seel will be featured during the event on May 24, 2022. For one hour, Seel will appear more frequently in the wild, and players will also have an increased chance to catch the Pokémon's Shiny version. Participating in the Spotlight Hour event will help players earn enough candy to evolve Seel or Shiny Seel into Dewgong or Shiny Dewgong.
Along with a different Pokémon each week, every Spotlight Hour event has an active bonus that players can take advantage of. On May 24, during the Seel Spotlight Hour, players can earn double Stardust for every Pokémon they catch. Stardust is used in Pokémon GO to power up Pokémon and perform trades. Powering up Pokémon with a high CP and completing special trades require a lot of Stardust, so a double earning bonus is great for trainers looking to build a strong team.
Seel is a Water-type Pokémon, so it's strong against Fire-, Rock-, and Ground-type, and weak against Grass- and Electric-type Pokémon. Seel's evolution, Dewgong, is an Ice- and Water-type that's weak against Fighting-, Rock-, Grass-, and Electric-type Pokémon. In order to evolve Seel into Dewgong, players will need to earn 50 candies for every Pokémon in the evolution line that's caught or transferred. For catching Seel, players will earn between three and seven candies if Berries are used, and transferring the Pokémon awards one candy.
Along with looking for a Shiny Pokémon, trainers can continue to catch Seel throughout the Pokémon GO event to find one with perfect stats. A perfect Pokémon's HP, attack, and defense stats are maxed out, and it will have a three-star rating. A Pokémon's stats and rating can be viewed by selecting them from storage, then using the appraise function. Perfect Pokémon are extremely useful for winning league battles and countering raid bosses.
When players encounter a Shiny Seel, they can increase the chance of capturing it by feeding it a Razz Berry or a Golden Razz Berry. Alternatively, Seel can be given a Pinap Berry or a Silver Pinap Berry to increase the number of candies players receive when the Pokémon is caught. Seel has a max CP of 1098 and receives a weather boost when it's rainy.
Seel is featured in the penultimate May 2022 Spotlight Hour for Pokémon GO, followed by Pikipek and a double XP catching bonus on May 31. Pikipek can't appear as Shiny, but players can still search for a perfect version. The Spotlight Hour Pokémon for June 2022 haven't been announced yet, but there are usually a few opportunities to catch Shiny Pokémon each month. Players can participate in Seel's Spotlight Hour on May 24 between 6 pm and 7 pm local time in Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO is available for iOS and Android.
