NHL 22: How To Build The Perfect Defender In CHEL | Screen Rant

In the World of CHEL game mode on NHL 22, players strive to build the perfect Defender to intimidate the opponents. Whether playing Pro-Am, Eliminator, or EA Sports Hockey League, the Defender player build is quite popular and important to the overall team aspect of NHL 22.

World of CHEL is one of the most popular game modes on NHL 22, as it allows players to use a created player with and against other created user players. In addition, the EA Sports Hockey League will enable users to create a club with friends and play together as a team with their individual created players.

There are many options for player builds, but Defender is one of the most important as players cannot trust AI defenders to protect the net. Building the perfect Defender is crucial to a club’s success, and there are a plethora of customization options in NHL 22 for the user to do just that.

The first thing NHL 22 players must choose is which Defender build they want to use. The options are Defensive Defenseman, Offensive Defenseman, Enforcer Defenseman, Two-Way Defenseman, and Puck Moving Defenseman. The most balanced option to start with is the Two-Way Defenseman.

When creating a player for the first time after choosing the Two-Way Defenseman build, NHL 22 requires the player to spend points on different attributes in NHL 22. There are five categories: Technique, Power, Playstyle, Tenacity, and Tactics. Each category gets its own budget, and it is important to spread that budget on different attributes. However, there are a few attributes that need some extra love. Speed, Slap Shot Accuracy, Slap Shot Power, Body Checking, Stick Checking, Strength, Discipline, and Fighting Skill should get most of the points when distributing the budget. The creator also gets two boosts to add to these attributes in NHL 22. It is best to choose between Disciplined Stick (+4 Stick Checking), Precise Slapper (+2 Slap Shot Accuracy), Booming Slapper (+2 Slap Shot Power), and Unbreakable Strength (+4 Strength).

Next, the player will choose a height and weight for the created player. Taller and heavier players will increase physical attributes while decreasing their skating attributes. Finding the perfect height and weight is vital to balancing out these attributes. For example, the optimal height and weight for Two-Way Defenseman in NHL 22 are 6’4” and 219 pounds. This will increase Strength, Fighting Skill, Durability, Body Checking, and Balance attributes by two points while decreasing Agility, Speed, Acceleration, and Endurance by two points.

When choosing a Zone Ability in NHL 22 for the Two-Way Defenseman, “Shutdown” is the best option. This ability gives the skater exceptional accuracy when poke checking against momentum or speed in a 1-on-1 situation and greatly improves shot-blocking and hitting strength in 1-on-1 situations. This Zone Ability is combined with two Superstar Abilities in NHL 22. There are 22 Offensive, nine Defensive, and five Athleticism options here. Therefore, it is best to pick a Defensive and Offensive Superstar Ability. A good combination is Stick ‘Em Up, which gives the skater outstanding defensive stick speed for advanced accuracy when poke checking against momentum or at speed while reducing the chances of a penalty, and Thunderclap, which provides the skater with advanced power and accuracy when taking slap shots from the point.
