The Big Bang Theory: 10 Spin-Offs Fans Want To See, According To Reddit

Season 6 of Young Sheldon is coming this fall, leaving fans to fill the time by re-watching episodes of its parent show, The Big Bang Theory. While viewers are loving the spin-off series, some have been pondering what other spin-offs could come from the 12-season-long television sitcom.

Some storylines in The Big Bang Theory would be entertaining to expand on, and even the show's side characters have multitudes that are worth exploring. So, fans have taken to Reddit to flex their creative muscles by pitching spin-offs that they want to see. Whether it is Dr. Beverly Hofstadter's Psychiatry Clinic or a show about Caltech, every idea would make for a great addition to the franchise.

At the end of season 3, Howard, Raj, Leonard, and Sheldon set out on an expedition to the North Pole to conduct scientific research. Viewers only see a few minutes of their time up north as the next episode then takes place four months after this (with the group arriving back from the expedition, beards and all).

Some fans want to know more about what happened in the North Pole. Redditor MrtviMi5 says, "Their North Pole expedition in 3rd season seemed quite fun... 4 of them trapped kilometers away in [the] North Pole where Sheldon [annoys them] would be interesting to watch." Given how the four talk about the trip in their return episode, it sure would be interesting to watch.

Redditor jedi1josh has an idea for "a show where Stuart and Denise are the main characters and they're running their comic book store." They added that they would have a "set of new characters who frequently visit the store," as well as some cameos from main and side characters from The Big Bang Theory.

Stuart's comic book store is a familiar set for fans of the show. The location always yields some great moments, as well as some of Stuart's best quotes. If the store were to live on in a spinoff, it would mean a lot more laughs and some great interactions between characters.

Most of the characters in the show work at Caltech at some point, which proves to be chock-full of some interesting personalities. Redditor vintagepork says, "I would like a show with President Siebert in a lead role with a comedy about running the university."

Given what viewers have already seen from Caltech, the spinoff series would undoubtedly be quite the comedy. President Siebert would also be a great central character, as he would deal with no shortage of ridiculous situations. Beloved side characters from the university could return, with plenty of room for new ones.

Redditor jmsturm would like to see a Raj-centric spin-off. They write, "Raj loses his job, and he and his (now) wife go back to India, where he becomes an overqualified school teacher. The show revolves around him adapting to a lower-end lifestyle, caught between his own pride and his parents' help (and their shenanigans)."

Raj is already an interesting and well-developed character, as well as one of the most intelligent on The Big Bang Theory. Seeing him with a new backdrop could be very entertaining. Between a new wife, quirky parents that exist off of Skype, and a whole new country for the audience to explore alongside Raj, there would be plenty of content for a show.

In season 5 and 6 of The Big Bang Theory, Howard travels to the International Space Station to fix something that he built. He video chats Bernadette often while he is away, mainly to tell her some horror stories about the other astronauts are bullying him.

About a viable spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, Redditor Kruto_7000 simply says, "Howard's space adventure." From what the audience sees of Howard's experiences on the space station in the series, a spinoff that shows them in-depth would be very amusing.

Fans like Redditor QueenRatigan want to see the gang's children in action. For a spinoff series, they say, "Next generation. Have Halley and Michael as teenagers interacting with the Hofstadter and Cooper kids."

Viewers of The Big Bang Theory spend 12 years growing with the characters. It would be interesting to see how their children turn out. It would leave the writers a lot of room to play with some children turning out exactly like their parents, with others being the complete opposite. Either way, watching them continue the legacy of their parents' friendship would be sweet.

Leonard's mother, Beverly Hofstadter, is a rigid psychiatrist. She psychoanalyzes everybody that she interacts with, but a drunken night with Penny shows that she has a wild side. Icy, neurotic, yet containing multitudes, she is one of the funniest side characters on The Big Bang Theory.

Redditor Books_and_Birdseed pitches, "Dr. Beverly Hofstadter's Psychiatry Clinic." Audiences already get a kick out of Beverly psychoanalyzing the main characters of The Big Bang Theory. Watching her glacial disposition in action with different patients would be a hoot. Plus, fans have gotten a glimpse of her character depth throughout the series, so there is plenty of room for her character to grow in a spin-off.

At the end of The Big Bang Theory, Raj is the only character who isn't in a relationship. Considering that he is only able to speak with women a little less than half-way through the series, it is no surprise that he has to play a game of catch-up in the dating world.

That's why one Redditor wants to see the astrophysicist find love in the most fun way possible. They write, "Raj on a dating show!! Like after he breaks off the relationship at the end, he signs up for a match making service and unknowingly gets chosen for a Bachelor type show." Raj lovers everywhere have to admit, he would make an amazing star of The Bachelor.

The Big Bang Theory ends with a pregnant Penny, so viewers never get to see her have the baby. Some fans want to know more about their future family. Redditor mychaelhouck says, "I think the real spinoff is Penny, Leonard, and new baby."

Penny and Leonard's seemingly opposite personalities would make for quite the parenting team. It would be interesting to see how they raise a child. Audiences would also be able to see the kinds of interests that the child develops, and whether they align more with Penny or Leonard's. Maybe they will have a knack for physics like Leonard, or they may prefer the arts like Penny, who still might be the smartest character on the show.

Redditor Actual-Being4079 has an ambitious idea for a spinoff that revolves around the gang's moms. They write, "Beverly Hofstadter moves in with Mary Cooper and Meemaw, then Penny's mom Susan joins them after her husband Wyatt dies. They form the new "Golden Girls," and have all sorts of wacky dating adventures."

Beverly, Mary, Meemaw, and Susan are all amusing characters on their own, and previous interactions between Beverly and Mary have been more than entertaining. A whole series dedicated to the four very different women living together while trying to find love would be both engrossing and hilarious.
