Temptation Island: Gillian Called A Hypocrite After Edgar's Cheating

Fans of Temptation Island believe Gillian Lieberman was being hypocritical when she reacted in outrage to her boyfriend Edgar de Santiago cheating on her with Marissa Rodriguez. The two joined the dating show hoping to come out stronger than before, but unfortunately, their relationship seems to have crumbled in their time apart. Edgar made a strong connection with Marissa, a North Carolina-based real estate agent, at the same time that Gillian grew very close to California firefighter Tommy Soltis. Edgar became increasingly hurt at each bonfire, watching his girlfriend clearly grow feelings for another man. When it was time for the cast members to send video messages to their partners, Edgar made it very clear in his video that he was angry at his girlfriend.

However, he was about to get his revenge. Edgar ended up sleeping with Marissa, and Gillian watched the whole scene play out at the bonfire. Despite her own flirtiness with Tommy, including an ambiguous shower scene, the castmate was shocked at Edgar's intimacy with Marissa. Gillian returned to the house in a fit of rage, announcing to all the single men that her boyfriend was the first to sleep with someone else and apparently plans to leave the island with Marissa. Gillian's castmates Ashley Rodriguez and Ash Lamiroult seemed equally upset with what they witnessed from their partners, and all three joked about storming into the mens' house to confront them.

However, fans of Temptation Island don't seem to understand Gillian's frustration and instead believe she's a hypocrite for being so upset with Edgar's behavior. Reddit user InformalGarlic2285 prompted a conversation around the cast member's reaction, wondering if anyone else thought Gillian and Tommy's behavior was just as bad as Edgar's. "I understand that it’s hurtful to see your boyfriend having sex with someone else HOWEVER, coming from Gillian it feels very hypocritical," the fan wrote. Other fans of Temptation Island, the show that shares a similar plot with Netflix's The Ultimatum, pointed out that Gillian took things too far by allowing Tommy to sleep in her bed with her.

However, some fans did take Gillian's side, saying that all she and Tommy did was kiss each other, while Edgar definitely crossed boundaries in their relationship by having sex with Marissa. In a recap video that the Temptation Island cast does weekly, Edgar seemed regretful over his behavior, despite his initial inconsideration of Gillian's feelings. Unfortunately, some fans still think Gillian is also in the wrong. "Gillian’s reaction to that clip was her way of making everything Edgar’s fault although she knew before even coming on the show she didn’t want to be with him anymore," one fan added to the thread.

Gillian definitely does not have Temptation Island fans on her side, even if she didn't technically break any rules she and Edgar set for their time on the show. Fans can't seem to look past Gillian's obvious feelings for Tommy and all the moments she almost cheated on her boyfriend. It also seems Gillian has had no intention of leaving the island with Edgar, even before she watched him cheat on her during the bonfire. While she may be able to own up to how she also hurt Edgar, it seems unlikely she'll forgive his behavior and go back to him.
