The Challenge All-Stars 3: Why Producers Let Jordan & Nia Return

When The Challenge: All-Stars 3 began streaming on Wednesday, May 11, The Real World: Portland roommates (and former enemies), Nia Moore and Jordan Wiseley returned to compete for the grand prize. This came as a shock to many viewers, as both competitors were involved in a major controversy that saw them take some time away from participating in the show. Amid the return of the enemies turned friends, the producers explained why they allowed them to return.

The last time that viewers saw Nia compete was on Battle Of The Exes II, when she was disqualified close to the final, due to verbally and physically assaulting Jordan prior to an elimination. This didn't come to a surprise to many, as the two didn't have a great relationship. They had issues dating all the way back to their time on The Real World: Portland together. The two got into a heated argument two years prior, when Jordan used a racial slur, which was appalling to most fans of the show. When viewers saw that Nia and Jordan from The Challenge returned to compete, many were extremely shocked that they were cast, but even more surprised that they'd developed a close friendship.

According to Cheatsheet, Julie Pizzi, the president of Bunim-Murray Productions, who is also the executive producer of the show, talked about the controversial decision to bring them back. While discussing it, she stated that she believes that the two create a "unique" dynamic, as their journey to friendship was never documented or caught on camera. Therefore, the viewers weren't aware of the fact that they'd repaired their relationship.

Also, according to the same source, while The Challenge stars are competing again, the series will acknowledge their close relationship now, but will not unpack a lot of the past that does not relate to the series. So, while it seems safe to say that The Challenge viewers will get a look at how close the two have become, viewers will more than likely never know the full extent of how they formed their close friendship away from the cameras. Since The Challenge puts longtime friendships to the test, there is the chance that the two reality stars will have another falling out.

Even though a lot of people were shocked by Jordan and Nia's return to the show, the casting likely won't stop them from tuning into the series each week. It is uncertain if there will be drama between the two now that they have built a friendship, but on The Challenge, anything can happen.
