Stray Publisher Annapurna Will Host Pop-Up Cat Cafe In NYC

Annapurna Interactive, the publisher of sci-fi cat simulator Stray, will be hosting a pop-up launch celebration at the New York City cat cafe Meow Parlour. The newly-released platform puzzle game, developed by BlueTwelve Studio, casts players as an adorable stray cat who finds itself lost in a futuristic cyberpunk world. BlueTwelve Studio recently shed light on the real-life inspiration for the cat in Stray, and soon fans will be able to celebrate the game's launch alongside felines and fellow fans.

First announced back in 2020, Stray simulates the feeling of being a nimble and streetwise cat while also taking players to a strange sci-fi metropolis. The game focuses mainly on atmosphere and exploration, with players able to perform classic cat actions like clawing furniture and nonchalantly knocking items off tables. Puzzles are a key part of gameplay in Stray, with the purring protagonist's natural agility apparently making traversal through the cyberpunk city quite easy. The challenge comes from choosing where to navigate, rather than the navigation itself. Stealth and combat mechanics are also present in the game, with Screen Rant's game review of Stray praising the title's pacing and variety of content.

Stray publisher Annapurna Interactive is hosting a free pop-up event at Meow Parlour in New York City to celebrate the title's release. Between Friday July 22 and Sunday July 24 Annapurna will be distributing limited edition collaboration merchandise for fans to take home. Free bubble tea drinks will also be provided by the Boba Guys on one of the launch event's three days. Those interested in visiting can go to the cat cafe's website to learn more and secure a reservation. Visiting the cafe will let fans hang out with actual kitties while celebrating the Stray protagonist's trip through an overwhelming cybercity.

While Annapurna Interactive is teaming up with Meow Parlour to celebrate the game's release, Stray cat merchandise like backpacks is another great way for fans to support the indie title. The collaboration between Annapurna and Travel Cat has resulted in a new line of cat backpacks and harnesses that let feline families venture outside together. The backpacks include an adorable viewport, letting furry passengers gaze upon their surroundings in awe. The cat harnesses, based directly on the one used by the kitty in Stray, are reflective and boast six feet of cord to ensure safe outdoor shenanigans.

While the game is an intense cyberpunk adventure, Stray is even moreso a celebration of cat cuteness, agility and ingenuity. The game fully embraces its novel premise, and now fans can embrace their love for all things feline by attending the Stray launch event at Meow Parlour. The celebration will be held this weekend, so those wishing to attend should make a reservation on the cat cafe's website soon.
