Warning: This list contains spoilers for the Resident Evil series.
Though Resident Evil adaptations usually stick strictly to video game characters for their live-action takes, Netflix's 2022 series is a little different. There are nods to the video game continuity, and of course, Albert Wesker, but the characters are a whole new group of people for fans of the franchise to get to know.
Among those characters are headstrong Jade, insecure Billie, and the rebellious Simon, teenagers who find themselves caught in the middle of the Umbrella conspiracy. These characters, and many more in the series, fit neatly into the personality traits of the western zodiac signs.
The audience gets to know the brash, brave, and brazen Jade in the present and the future timeline of Resident Evil. As a teenager, she's most focused on her relationship with her sister and uncovering the truth about Umbrella, which can lead her to lash out at other people pretty quickly.
In the future, she jumps into situations without fully thinking about those consequences, but her goals are still to understand what Umbrella has done to the world and to protect those she cares about. Jade lives her life with passion and is ready for action. Those two traits embody everything she does, making her an Aries.
Technically, Billie and Jade should have the same astrological signs if they were born on the same day, but the audience can overlook that - or believe that they were born just enough time apart to place them on different days. At first glance, Billie, who looks for the good in situations and cares deeply about the people and animals around her, seems like a Cancer. Billie, also, however, is someone who is pretty resistant to change or making waves.
She wants to preserve the family dynamic at any cost, even if that means not letting her dad know that the infection from a dog bite makes her feel like a completely different person. She's got a stubborn streak that sees her butting heads with her sister on a regular basis. Her stubborn desire to cling to what she knows, and her slow turn to putting herself first make her the perfect Taurus antagonist for Jade's future.
In the future, Jade doesn't get to spend as much time as she'd like with her daughter Bea. That's because Jade's research frequently takes her far from the University. Despite that, Bea thrives in the University environment. She takes on new interests regularly, participating in ballet, and piano, and is interested in a variety of subjects.
Bea's curiosity and her many different layers are true of a Gemini. A Gemini is a sociable creature who easily makes friends and adapts to new situations quickly.
Bert, one of the Albert Wesker clones revealed over the course of the series, initially appears naive, but incredibly violent. Underneath the innocence that Evelyn takes advantage of, however, is someone who cares deeply for his family.
Bert sees the other Wesker clones as his brothers and Billie and Jade as his nieces. When he discovers that Albert has been allowed to live a life while he's been confined, he doesn't take it personally. Bert even makes it his own mission to save Jade and Billie from Umbrella when Albert is in trouble. His empathy and his tendency to see the good in others make Cancer Bert's best zodiac match.
For the first half of the series, an employee of Umbrella relentlessly follows Jade, trying to pick her up and bring her back to Billie. Baxter is a natural leader, with full command of seemingly unlimited soldiers from Umbrella. He's also incredibly skilled - and he knows it.
Like any true Leo, he wants his skills to be appreciated, so he's constantly remarking on the things he's done when his path crosses with Jade. While she rarely seems impressed, he seems like he's having a good time - right up until his death.
Arjun might not be the Virgo protagonist of the series, but he is an important supporting player. Arjun is the reason Jade is able to continue her work to understand the "zeroes" and give Bea a safe place to call home.
Arjun has those nurturing instincts of a Virgo as he's the one often reminding Jade just how much Bea needs her and how important Jade's safety is when she gets too impulsive. Arjun is also one of the few people on board the University's ship trusted with the key to releasing the giant crocodile. He's privy to the plans of the leaders.
Evelyn doesn't trust many people. She especially doesn't trust people whose decisions she can't control. That's why it's a bit of a surprise that Roth, one of the members of her security team, seems to be trusted with all of her, and by extension, Umbrella's dirty secrets.
Roth is a natural leader who is able to command the security team flawlessly. That's often true of Libras. Libras also, however, usually have a strong sense of justice, and they work best in partnerships. For Roth, his sense of justice is skewed by his loyalty to Evelyn and Umbrella, making his version of justice whatever it is that keeps Umbrella safe.
Albert Wesker is one of the few characters in the series from the original Resident Evil games. Until the reveal of Bert's existence, the audience (and Albert's daughters) are in the dark about Albert being a clone. Albert is clearly the leader amongst his brothers in the brief flashback revealing their existence, directing their actions in the lab, and seeing the dangers coming. He's got that secretive Scorpio nature once he's allowed to live his own life though, keeping his history a secret from his own daughters.
Albert also has the aggressive approach to his goals that Scorpios take. He engineers his daughters to help with his own illness. He also pushes back against Evelyn when he knows she could completely upend his life.
Like all of the Weskers, Amrita is a scientist as well. She and Jade share a lab on the University's ship, studying the behavior of the "zeroes" and trying to find a way to survive in a very different world than the one they grew up in. Amrita, despite her urging Jade to focus on family and to get out of the lab, stays in the lab herself to complete tests long after she should take a break.
Amrita's interest in science and her fascination with Jade's findings concerning "zeroes" is right in line with the Sagittarius quest for knowledge. So is her inability to keep a secret as Sagittarius tends to be one of the bluntest signs of the zodiac.
As the woman in charge of Umbrella, Evelyn has had to make a lot of tough choices. She allows her ambition to cloud her judgment in her quest to make her company the best and most successful. That can happen to the best of Capricorns, turning them into great antagonists.
A Capricorn like Evelyn makes for a great antagonist because she lets nothing get in her way and is willing to sacrifice anything that stands in her way, even her own son. Evelyn works so hard that she loses the connection to her wife and son long before she's willing to sacrifice them.
A journalist with a cause that they're willing to fly halfway around the world for is a pretty picture-perfect Aquarius. An Aquarius is often viewed as the most rebellious of signs, but they're also the one who is most sure of their convictions. They have faith and in Angel's case, that faith is in the truth.
Angel turns down copious amounts of money, leaves his home, and risks his life to find the truth about Umbrella to warn the world. His belief is so strong that he holds onto it, unwilling to give up Billie and Jade as the source of his information, even if it kills him.
Though Pisces are often thought of as the sign that has their head in the clouds, the truth is they are idealists. They like to attempt to find the best in the world, which is why Simon finds himself so interested in Jade despite their initial hostile meetings. It's also why Simon keeps poking at Umbrella's control, trying to find the good parts of the world that might be just out of his reach.
Simon's also got the Pisces creativity, teaching himself how to hack, and talking Jade and Billie through dodging cameras all throughout their own home.
