Dudley Datson and the Forever Machine has the creative team of Scott Snyder, Jamal Igle, Juan Castro, Chris Sotomayor, and Tom Napolitano. This new Comixology series will focus on the titular character, Dudley Datson, who is an inventor. He hasn't achieved the success of Archimedes, Leonardo DaVinci, Alexander Graham Bell, or Albert Einstein, but the world is about to depend on him nonetheless, as seen in the exclusive trailer for the upcoming series. It will debut digitally on Comixology and eventually be collected in print by Dark Horse Comics. Check it out here:

Throughout history, the world's greatest engineers have tried, and failed, to create the perpetual motion machine - a machine that could open doorways through space-time and other terrifying realities. But what if a perpetual motion machine had been created? A machine this powerful would need to be the world's most guarded secret. And for as long as it has existed, "the Forever Machine" has been pursued by the Needle's Eye, a group of the rich, powerful and nefarious who seek to use it to fulfill their own desires.

Enter Dudley Datson, a science-loving geek who goes to a school for gifted kids in Brooklyn, NY. His closest friend is his science teacher, Dr. Adara Shae. She's brilliant and well known around the world, doing a residency at Dudley's school, and recognizes his promise. She's also the current protector of the Forever Machine..

After the Needle's Eye catches up to her, a dying Dr. Shae passes the Forever Machine to Dudley. And where the machine goes, its guardian mechanical dog Daedalus follows. Full of gadgets and tricks, able to speak, Daedalus become Dudley's protector as they struggle to keep the Forever Machine away from the Needle's Eye.

The trailer for this Comixology Original presents the importance of dreams, before introducing Dudley Datson - who is having a very familiar nightmare. There is also a brief glance at someone who seems to be a prevalent member of the Needle's Eye. Dudley is also seen working on a new outfit which seemingly allows him to change his appearance with ease. This will likely be a wonderful tool that will help him protect the Forever Machine that will soon come into his possession. This suit also seemingly has a stealth mode, which can make him invisible. Thus far, his canine protector, Daedalus has not seemed to make an appearance, though such companions often become fan favorites rather quickly.

Impressively, Scott Snyder's Comixology originals have spanned numerous genres, from horror to action, and now a new superhero of sorts is on his way. Like Tony Stark and Peter Parker, he will likely be using his ingenuity and inventive talents to fill his newly given role. Many heroes before him have been thrust into moments of need and crisis without being prepared so it will be interesting to see how Dudley Datson reacts to his major life change to save the world from the aims of the Needle's Eye.
