The fusions between Goku and Vegeta are one of the most recognizable elements of Dragon Ball, but Naruto and Sasuke managed to top any fusion with their combined power in Boruto. Though Dragon Ball-esque fusions aren't really a thing in the ninja world, Naruto's sequel briefly introduced a similar concept to incredible effect.
Living up to its title as Naruto's Next Generations, Boruto follows the children of Naruto and his friends. The series' first arc saw the titular Boruto enter the chunin exams before the insidious Momoshiki arrives to abduct Naruto. The Ōtsutsuki succeeds, taking Naruto to a newly built Dragon Ball: Tree of Might-esque Chakra Tree so he can steal the Seventh Hokage's abundant chakra and form a new chakra fruit. In response, Sasuke, the four other Kage, and Boruto all launch an assault on Momoshiki. They initially make some headway in breaking through Momoshiki, but the villain pulls one more trick out of his sleeve. Momoshiki turns his Ōtsutsuki companion into a chakra fruit and eats it, granting him tremendous power.
In chapter 8 of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Momoshiki unleashes his wrath on the assembled Shinobi. The four Kage who came to rescue Naruto are knocked out by Momoshiki without a second thought, leaving only Naruto, Sasuke, and Boruto to stand against the powerful villain. Knowing that Momoshiki can absorb jutsu, Naruto relies mostly on his martial capabilities before transforming into his Sage of Six Paths mode and getting some assistance from Sasuke. Together, the former rivals are able to force Momoshiki to take more drastic measures. He reshapes the ground into snake heads and monsters that assault the pair, forcing Naruto to combine his Sage of Six Paths mode with his Nine-Tails Chakra Mode. Though Naruto still struggles even in this enhanced state, he gets a boost from Sasuke's god-tier justsu, Susanoo. Suddenly the chakra Kurama is decked out in Susanoo's armor. With Naruto and Sasuke's greatest powers combined, the giant Kurama is easily able to cleave Momoshiki's giant monsters in two.
Goku and Vegeta's Dragon Ball fusions are iconic for a reason. Goku and Vegeta spent much of Dragon Ball being rivals, so their ability to come together into one being represented a tremendous turning point for both characters where Vegeta could finally accept Goku as an equal and Goku could accept Vegeta as a hero. Naruto and Sasuke's pseudo fusion in Boruto isn't exactly a turning point, but it does represent tremendous character growth. The two spent so much of Naruto at odds with each other, that it's satisfying to see them not only join forces but do so with such fluidity. That, combined with the fact that their powers together look so cool, makes the moment an awesome testament to how much the duo have grown since Naruto's end. Though Naruto's Baryon Mode might be his strongest form, his fused attack with Sasuke is definitely his coolest power yet.
Ever since Dragon Ball introduced it, fusions have been an essential part of shonen manga and anime. With Naruto and Sasuke's fused power in Boruto, the ninja world is able to take what made Goku and Vegeta's fusion so iconic in Dragon Ball and take it to incredibly cool new heights.
