When the second to last episode of RuPaul's Drag Race: All-Stars began streaming on Friday, July 22, viewers saw a twist that would change the competition; Jaida Essence Hall didn't make it to the finale. This season played out a little differently than normal as All-Stars 7 consisted of only past winners, and no queens were eliminated this season. Instead, the top two all-stars of the week would receive a legendary legend star, and the winner of the lip-sync would get to block one of their competitors from receiving a star in the following episode. The four queens with the most legendary legend stars at the end of the competition would compete in the finale lipsync smackdown for the crown. However, after this past episode, viewers are saying that Jaida was robbed of making it to the finale.
During the penultimate episode, a twist was revealed where the top two Drag Race all-stars would receive three legendary legend stars, and after the challenge, it was announced that Jinkx Monsoon, Shea Coulee, and Monét X Change made it to the finale. However, there was a tie for fourth place as both Trinity The Tuck and Jaida had the same amount of stars, and Monét was the one who had to break the tie. She chose Trinity to advance to the lipsync smackdown for the crown.
After deciding to send Trinity to the finale, many viewers said the decision was unfair. For Drag Race fans who may not know, Monét and Trinity competed together on All-Stars 4, where they were both crowned the winners. After competing on All-Stars 7, the pair formed an alliance where they promised not to block each other if given the opportunity. However, after the twist, many fans believe Jaida, from RuPaul's Drag Race 12, should have made it to the finale over Trinity. According to EW, when Monét had to make her decision, she stated, "Drag Race is this crazy thing, and I love Jaida, we have developed a sisterhood in this competition together, but, I made Drag Race her-story with this queen and we went through a lot together, so I'm going to choose Trinity to go to the LaLaPaRuZa."
Many fans were upset that the Drag Race 12 winner didn't make it to the finale and even compared the moment to Shangela not making the finale in All-Stars 3. However, that didn't stop fans from praising Jaida for her time in the competition. Many agreed she was one of the best and deserved her place in the finale. Nonetheless, viewers believe she achieved what she wanted to achieve by returning to All-Stars, and fans couldn't be more proud.
Even though Jaida didn't make it to the finale lipsync smackdown for the crown, she will be competing in the "She Done Already Had Herses" lipsync smackdown with the other four queens that didn't make it to the finale for a chance to finish as the runner-up and a cash prize of $50,000. If viewers want to see how these two lipsync smackdowns turn out, they will have to tune into the RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars 7 finale when it streams this Friday, July 29. With a cash prize at stake for two queens, anything is bound to happen.
