Deadpool Has Finally Earned His Return To Marvel's X-Force

Warning: Spoilers for Wolverine #23 ahead

After months (and months) of Deadpool literally begging Wolverine to allow him to join Krakoa's newest iteration of X-Force, Logan has finally given in an extended an invitation to the desperate Wade. Deadpool has a long and complex history with the X-Men, and the X-Force team in general, but he has recently proven that regardless of his over-the-top behavior, he is an important asset to Krakoa's wetwork team.

Deadpool, created as a peak 1990s supervillain by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld for New Mutants #98, quickly became an enemy of the 90s' X-Force team, before shifting to his more modern conception as an antiheroic, 4th wall-breaking assassin, obsessed with being considered a part of the X-Men. While Deadpool has not been directly involved with X-Force for years, he was a core member of the Uncanny X-Force book - written by Rick Remender - under the leadership of Wolverine, and has been trying to rejoin the mutant community ever since.

Since his time on Uncanny X-Force, Wade Wilson has been desperately attempting to get Wolverine to ditch the X-Men and partner up with him or get him to invite Deadpool to join the newest iteration of X-Force. Since the Krakoan Age the status of Deadpool's maybe-mutant identity has been hotly contested, but it seems like now it does not matter anymore whether he has an X-Gene or not. The last several issues of Wolverine - Logan's solo-series in the Krakoan era written by Benjamin Percy with art by Adam Kubert - Deadpool has forced Wolverine to team up with him while attempting to convince him that they would work great together if Logan decided to ditch the X-Men. Wolverine #23 sees Logan and Wade infiltrating the old, abandoned Xavier School for Gifted Mutants to either capture, destroy, or decommission the sentient version of the X-Men's Danger Room. Danger's reason for hating the X-Men and wanting to see them killed is valid, seeing as they abandoned her and imprisoned her mutant lover Madison Jeffries in the Pit, but Deadpool clearly senses that she is truly just attacking them out of grief and desperation.

After deciding to spare Danger and her robot daughter, telling Blind Al, "She's a sad monster. I empathize with sad monster," it seems as though Deadpool and Wolverine's days teaming up together are over... except Wade has just one more job offer he needs to check out. On Krakoa the X-Force team, comprised of Wolverine, Beast, Sage Domino, and Omega Red (after the recent death and erasure of Quentin Quire from Cerebro), are meeting to discuss their next mission when Deadpool appears behind them looking meek. Wolverine, finally, invites Deadpool to join them with a smile, and a blurb on the final page announces that Deadpool will be back in the upcoming X-Force #30, which is part of the upcoming A.X.E.: Judgment Day event. It is a heartwarming moment, with Logan clearly acknowledging the skills and heart that Deadpool brings to a partnership, and a team, proven by him not killing Danger and helping Wolverine recover his stolen hand from Delores Ramirez of the CIA. At the end of the day, Deadpool is the perfect Marvel character to be on the amoral and brutally violent X-Force team, regardless of if he was born with an X-Gene or not, so Wolverine's decision to finally invite Wade into the fold makes a lot of sense considering.

Wolverine, who has always had some respect for Deadpool's psychotic strategic abilities, is the perfect person to lead Wade, as he has years of experience working with him and keeping him on a tight but useful leash. Hopefully Deadpool finally being invited to join X-Force by Wolverine will give the team the edge they need to defeat Kraven the Hunter in their next big battle.

The 100: The 15 Saddest Deaths In Series History

The CW's post-apocalyptic sci-fi series The 100 featured a lot of loss throughout its 100 episodes, but these The 100 deaths are the saddest in the show. Because The 100 takes place during a time period when Earth is no longer fully inhabitable, the conflicts between characters were almost always a matter of survival, and death truly did lurk around every corner. The show was never one to hold back in terms of delivering emotional moments, and it certainly wasn't shy when it came to killing off pivotal characters starting in just the third episode of The 100 . In fact, many of the deaths changed things about the show as a whole.
