Zendaya discusses her personal connection with the character of Peter Parker in a new Spider-Man: No Way Home behind the scenes clip. Ahead of its debut, there was little question that Spider-Man: No Way Home would be a hit, but few might've predicted just how big it would get. After nabbing the second-highest opening weekend of all time in December, No Way Home has webbed itself an impressive $1.89 billion worldwide total. That comes on top of glowing responses from fans and critics; there was even talk for a bit that No Way Home could've received Oscar nominations.
In the end, it only got a nom for best special effects, but it's safe to say the movie has cemented itself among film history nevertheless. That is because Spider-Man: No Way Home has a multiverse-spanning premise that allowed for characters from pre-MCU Spider-Man franchises to join the blockbuster universe. The action mainly focuses on Tom Holland's Peter Parker, picking up from his last onscreen appearance in 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home. As Peter grapples with the ramifications of having his identity revealed to the world, he turns to his closest allies - including Zendaya's Michelle "MJ" Jones - for help.
Zendaya gets the spotlight in a new Spider-Man: No Way Home behind the scenes video shared online by Sony Pictures Entertainment. The Euphoria actress admits that Spider-Man has always been her favorite hero, particularly because she can relate to his struggles with keeping a secret identity. Zendaya then speaks about MJ and Peter's evolving relationship and explains how it has brought out a different side of the prickly and sardonic MJ. Check out the video down below.

Zendaya has been with the MCU's Spider-Man franchise since 2017's Homecoming, but her initial role was surprisingly light. Over the course of the three movies, though, she has become one of the most pivotal people in Peter's life, and her part in the No Way Home ending made the entire film even more emotional than it already was. MJ has had a major impact on Peter's life, but as Zendaya said in the above video, the reverse is also very true.
The MCU is working on a Spider-Man 4 already, and it remains to be seen if Zendaya will be invited back. Considering where No Way Home left things, one has to hope MJ and Peter will get the chance to reunite onscreen. If that doesn't happen, though, at least Zendaya got three great opportunities to participate in stories about a character who means so much to her. Both Zendaya and MJ have been excellent additions to the MCU, and as Spider-Man: No Way Home proved, they have changed Peter Parker's journey forever.
