Doctor Strange Throws Bus On Gargantos In Multiverse Of Madness Trailer

A new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer has Strange throwing a bus on top of Gargantos. The first solo sequel for Doctor Strange comes from director Sam Raimi and brings back Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character, with a supporting cast that includes Elizabeth Olsen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Xochitl Gomez, and Michael Stuhlbarg. Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange last appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, where the Master of the Mystic Arts opened up the multiverse, which looks to cause even greater problems in this outing.

Ejiofor's Karl Mordo makes his return to the MCU after going dark at the end of the last solo film, but he's not the only villain appearing in the sequel. Gargantos aka Shuma-Gorath is one of the Great Old Ones, a group of beings that are said to predate the universe itself in the Marvel Comics realm, and has a long history with Doctor Strange as well as the Marvel Universe in general. The character has yet to appear in any MCU films, making Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness its first live-action appearance.

In a new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness from Marvel, Strange is seen battling Gargantos in the streets of New York, eventually using his magical powers to throw an entire bus on the creature. Also included in the footage are new looks at Olsen's Scarlet Witch in action, as well as new dialogue that specifically references the multiverse, with Wanda telling Strange, "Try not to break the multiverse, Stephen." Take a look at the trailer below:

Olsen's Scarlet Witch was last seen in the Disney+ series WandaVision, which left her character in the same place where Strange appears to meet her in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There's been a lot of speculation as to additional appearances and cameos of other MCU characters, including that of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, a role he inhabited for the X-Men films when 20th Century Fox was in control. Gargantos, Rintrah, and America Chavez are already known to be appearing in the film, as well as some potential variants of Strange from the What If...? Disney+ series, but it's unclear how many more (if any) cameos are planned for the film, even while expectations continue to rise.

With roughly two weeks before Doctor Strange in the Multiverse opens, the answers to all the fan theories are that much closer to being resolved. As with Avengers: Endgame, the studio won't be screening the full film until its premiere on May 2 in an effort to keep the film's many surprises under wraps for as long as possible. While leaks will follow, as they always do, it does give active fans on social media a bit more lead time in avoiding potential spoilers that could ruin the experience of seeing the film for the first time. How any studio keeps things secret at this stage is a miracle, but Marvel has done its best. While it may not be possible to avoid all Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness spoilers, hopefully fans can avoid enough to go in with fresh eyes to see what the Doctor has in store.
