Samuel L. Jackson Plays A Samurai Cat In New Paws of Fury Trailer

Samuel L. Jackson leads a stellar cast as a samurai cat in the new trailer for Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank. Paws of Fury is a new animated feature from Paramount Pictures slated for release on July 15. The film is directed by Mark Koetsier, whose background includes being a story artist for Big Hero 6 and 2018's The Grinch, and Rob Minkoff, who previously directed Stuart Little and Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Aside from Jackson, the film also has an all-star cast of voice talent, including Michelle Yeoh, Michael Cera, Ricky Gervais, Gabriel Iglesias, Djimon Hounsou, George Takei, and Mel Brooks.

The trailer for Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, which was shared on YouTube by Paramount Pictures, sees Cera's Hank living in a bad neighborhood where he gets picked on, which inspires him to become a samurai, learning from Jackson's Jimbo, a once-great samurai who has since fallen on hard times. As Gervais' villainous Ika Chu enters the picture, Hank trains for the fight of his life. Check out the trailer for Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank below:

While Paws of Fury is an animated, family-friendly film, the trailer also offers jokes for adults. For example, Jackson's penchant for cursing is given a humorous nod, with the trailer seeing his character say, "What the mother-father cocker spaniel is going on here?" Paws of Fury is also loosely based on Brooks' 1974 film Blazing Saddles, which is far from the family-friendly animation of the new movie. However, Paws of Fury gives Brooks and even Richard Pryor original story writing credits because of the connection. For audiences looking to check out Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank, the film hits theaters this summer.
