Friends: What Each Character's Favorite TV Series Would Be In 2022

The characters of Friends are well-known for their individual personalities, quirks and interests, whether that means fashion, cooking, acting or science, depending on the character. Fans see these traits shine through in many ways. Even watching the characters watching TV is usually an insightful glimpse into their personal preferences.

Based on what they've seen on the show, fans might be able to guess what each character's favorite show would be today, and if Friends was still running today, fans might even hear the characters talk about some of these modern shows, or perhaps even see them enjoying them for themselves.

Every true Friends fan knows that Janice is the queen of all things gossip and prides herself on getting in the middle of other people's drama. She has a lot to say about the ins and outs of relationships and seeing as she's a bit of a drama queen herself, so Gossip Girl would probably be her favorite show today.

The new revival show of Gossip Girl hit HBO and, just like the original, it's full of drama, love, passion, and deception. It proves how dangerous rumors and gossip can be to people's reputations and lives. Janice has experienced a few of those themes in her own life on the show, in her on-and-off relationship with Chandler and beyond it. She is often seen giving the other friends advice on relationships and spreading some rumors herself.

Phoebe is a truly unique character because, even with her bubbly and eccentric attitude, she has darker humor she expresses through her songs or in some of her one-liners. Phoebe might enjoy Orange Is the New Black today because of her own rough background and offbeat humor.

Piper in Orange Is the New Black is a smaller blonde like Phoebe, whom people don't expect to be caught up in the rough, tough struggles of life, and often underestimate. Phoebe explains in the show how she used to be homeless and even tried to mug people (even Ross at one point) for money. Orange Is the New Black is filled with gritty themes mixed with dark humor and seems to be the perfect show for Phoebe's strange interests and tastes.

Chandler has very different tastes when it comes to TV shows and hobbies. He is often teased for the things he likes because they are unexpected, which leads to them becoming more of a guilty pleasure for him. Killing Eve would easily become another guilty pleasure for him that his friends might disapprove of.

Chandler watches TV quite often, and he's usually watching something extremely unexpected for his character, like a sappy romance or a chick flick, one of several aspects of his character that defied gender norms on Friends. He comments on recognizing the movie Miss Congeniality through a hotel room wall. At the same time, he is also angaged in watching a car chase. Like Miss Congeniality, Killing Eve has that undercover, spy feel with strong female leads and includes some comedy that fits Chandler. Undoubtedly, his friends would 100% tease him for liking it.

Joey is known for his taste in TV shows such as Baywatch, which he enjoyed watching because of the beautiful girls who star in it. As an actor, Joey also enjoyed watching and making his friends watch the movies and shows in which he starred. Seeing as he played a doctor in a soap opera, Grey's Anatomy would definitely be his favorite show.

Even though Grey's Anatomy is not quite a soap opera, it still has a drama similar to a show Joey might get a role in. Joey infamous played the character of Dr. Drake Ramoray on Days of Our Lives, even achieving some measure of fame. Joey would love Grey's Anatomy because he could relate it to his role in Days, and maybe he would have been able to land a role in it somehow.

Monica's most beloved passion is cooking and baking. She had a career based on that passion and constantly cooked food that brought the Friends friends together. Her favorite modern-day show, without a doubt, would be The Great British Baking Show

It could be argued that Monica's two greatest interests are food and competition. She is a fantastic chef and can't say no to a competition, so of course her favorite show would be one related to those two things. Although the show focuses on baking and not cooking, The Great British Baking Show is one of the most popular food competition shows. Fans could easily imagine Monica watching the show and criticizing the competitors at every turn.

Fans all know Ross is the nerdiest and geekiest character in Friends and arguably the most intelligent, even though he made some big mistakes. If Ross had to choose a modern-day show as his favorite, he would probably choose a show with some degree of geekiness, such as The Big Bang Theory.

The show tells us Ross loved all things scientific and historical as he watched his national geographic and documentaries. He knows many random facts and knowledge that his friends often tease him for. His favorite show would probably be The Big Bang Theory because he could relate to the awkward nerdiness of the characters in the show and would appreciate the scientific content involved.

Emily in Paris is the perfect modern-day show for Rachel due to her love for fashion, relationships, drama, and because she could imagine what her life would have been like if she did take the job to Paris.

Rachel is a romantic and lover of finer things, such as high fashion and shopping. Emily In Paris is a no-brainer when it comes to her favorite show because it not only circulates through everything she enjoys and is known for. Even though her staying behind for Ross was one of the best decisions Rachel made on Friends, she might imagine the life that she would have had if she had taken the job to Paris.
