Cheer 2: Why Assistant Coach Andy Cosferent Left Navarro

Andy Cosferent was the assistant coach for Navarro on Cheer seasons 1 and 2, but he is no longer working as Monica Aldama's right hand man. Andy helped decide who would be making mat each year and helped create their championship-winning routines. Here is everything to know about why Andy left and what he has been up to since.

Cheer season 2 dealt with a lot of challenges for Navarro, from the impact of the pandemic to news of Jerry Harris' arrest and the rise of their rivals at Trinity Valley. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 Championship in Daytona was canceled and some of the original cast from Cheer were not able to return for the next season. After becoming champions in 2019, many fans were hoping to see Andy, Monica and their team defend their title, but they had stiff competition with TVCC. However, fans noticed that halfway through Cheer season 2, Andy was not shown anymore, and it was revealed that he left his job as assistant coach at Navarro.

Monica also made waves when she competed on Dancing with the Stars, as many were worried that would take away from her ability to coach the students at Navarro. Some thought that Andy would take over for Monica in her absence, but a former cheerleader named Kailee Peppers took the job. The show did not reveal why Andy left, but there does not seem to be any bad blood between him and Monica. He continues to root for his former students and showed that he liked being affiliated with the show when he announced the news of Cheer season 2 on his Instagram.

It appears that Andy was ready to move on from working as an assistant coach, but he is still very involved with Navarro and Cheer. He created an app also called Cheer where fans can choose their own avatar from the cast, perform routines and even compete in a championship like they do on the show. Andy is also the owner of a cheerleading choreography company called CheerSource. On their website, they have worked with 600 teams and even helped choreograph the closing ceremonies at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

Though Andy left Navarro, he seems to be moving with his own company and is still heavily involved in the cheering world. Many fans miss seeing him and Monica go through each of their team members' strengths and see how they decide who makes mat on Cheer. Hopefully Andy will make a return on Cheer season three and help them bring home another win.
