RHOBH: Bella Hadid Admits Alcohol’s Effects On Brain Led To Sobriety

Fashion model and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Bella Hadid has been participating in dry January; in fact, the star revealed she gave up drinking six months ago. Bella has made a career out of modeling for designers like Michael Kors and lingerie brand Victoria's Secret while simultaneously posting her glamorous lifestyle all over Instagram. However, the star has also gotten candid about her mental health, proving that all that glitters is not gold. The model has shared her experiences with anxiety and panic attacks, revealing that just because her life looks perfect on Instagram, doesn't mean it actually is.

In November, Bella shared a series of photos to her Instagram account, showcasing herself amidst an anxiety attack. The star received some backlash from online cynics who found it difficult to have sympathy for her. Some agreed that Bella should stop complaining and take herself out of the spotlight if it's so difficult to be famous. However, the Dior Beauty ambassador posted the photos hoping that anyone else battling mental health disorders would feel less alone. She also wanted to show her followers that no one's life is as perfect behind the scenes as it looks on social media.

Bella is clearly not letting the backlash stop her from being honest with the public. The star has continued to talk about her mental health, and in an interview with In Style, the model revealed how cutting out alcohol has helped with her anxiety. Bella said that there were times when she was going out and drinking so much that she felt like she couldn't control herself. The star also admitted that alcohol would cause her to wake up at 3 in the morning with anxiety over something she said years earlier.

However, what really pushed Bella to stop drinking was when her doctor showed her brain scans revealing the effects alcohol has on the human brain. After seeing the scans, the star admitted that it became "a lot harder to pick up the glass." As to what the model has substituted alcohol for, she co-founded the non-alcoholic beverage brand, Kin Euphorics. The drink is full of herbs and botanicals, and Bella says it gives the same energy boost as coffee or matcha without the later effects of anxiety. The RHOBH star explains the drinks' intention is "to help you get high on your own supply, tapping inner sources of energy and nurturing your brain through incredible ingredients."

While most people in their 20s list going out and drinking as their favorite pastime, Bella has a strong argument as to why cutting alcohol out could be a good idea. Millennials have made some of their favorite memories on wild nights out, but alcohol comes with many risks, and the RHOBH star's choice of sobriety is entirely understandable. With her new drink brand, she's proving to people her age that you can still have a good time without being drunk, and there are many health benefits to not drinking. Hopefully, Bella's honesty will inspire others to take better care of their mental health, even if it means giving up something society deems as fun.
