Moon Knight & Carnage Merge Into Ultra-Violent Form in New Cover Art

Two of Marvel's deadliest characters merge as Moon Knight and Carnage become one in a stunning new variant cover by Dan Panoisan. On Monday, the talented artist shared his upcoming variant cover for Moon Knight #9, which imagines what would happen if the Carnage symbiote infected the antihero? The answer is a terrifying hero that might be one of the scariest creatures in the entire Marvel Universe.

Carnage has earned its reputation as one of the deadliest killers in the Marvel Universe, as the symbiote villain has unleashed mayhem against Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Combined with serial killer Cletus Kasady, the Carnage symbiote has an overwhelming desire to kill and cause destruction, with the murderer being the perfect host for the alien creature. Meanwhile, Moon Knight isn't afraid to kill when necessary and has even taken things further than most heroes would, as he's brutally murdered some of his greatest villains - including when he carved the face off of Bushman. The characters merge for a new cover art imagining an all-new ultra-violent Moon Knight/Carnage combination.

On his Twitter account, artist Dan Panosian shared his take on Moon Knight merging with the Carnage symbiote for Moon Knight #9. The cover sees Moon Knight wearing his iconic costume, but with Carnage's red tendrils popping out of his body. The symbiote transforms Marc Spector into a monster as he gains Carnage's sharp teeth and grows long claws out of his fingernails. While Moon Knight won't become Carnage in the story as the variant art is part of the Carnage Forever set of covers by Marvel Comics, Panosian does an incredible job merging the two characters into one.

For both Carnage and Moon Knight fans, the Carnage Forever cover is a must-pick-up, as it provides a terrifying glimpse of what would happen if the deadly symbiote infected the hero. Of course, Carnage is already terrifying with Cletus Kasady as its host. Still, it would be pretty much impossible to guess how it would behave with Marc Spector being the host instead.

Moon Knight becoming Carnage would make for an excellent What If...? story from Marvel Comics. Hopefully, the cover art by Dan Panosian inspires Marvel to tell a story featuring the even more twisted version of Moon Knight because it would be exciting to see what the result would be if the hero merged with Carnage. Considering Carnage has already merged with a ton of heroes and villains, there's no reason Moon Knight couldn't get Carnage-ized as well. For now, the awesome variant cover for Moon Knight #9, in comic shops on March 2nd, is close as readers will get to the real thing.
