Warning! Spoilers ahead for Moon Knight #9
When Marc Spector pays a visit to Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum in the latest issue of Moon Knight, the interior of the Sorcerer Supreme's home looks very familiar. In a dynamic move of synergy between comics and films, the Marvel Comics' version of Strange's Sanctum now looks nearly identical to the Sanctum of the MCU. While this could simply be an Easter egg, it could be hinting at the Sanctum's greater role in future Marvel Comics as the MCU nears its release date for the Doctor Strange sequel.
In the new Moon Knight #9 from writer Jed MacKay and artist Alessandro Cappuccio, Marc Spector is battling the House of Shadows, a monstrous sixth floor on top of a five-story building, existing as a sentient locale that has kept Moon Knight hostage for four days. However, its attempt to reach into Spector's complex and traumatized mind caused an insanely negative reaction, motivating the dark house to spit him out. However, Moon Knight has never been one to retreat. Rather than leaving his new foe be, Marc chooses instead to visit the Sanctum Sanctorum to get some answers about what he's currently facing in this new issue.
Upon Moon Knight's entry into the Sanctum, the main doorway opens up to a large receiving room as seen in the MCU, complete with the same chairs, paintings, and lamps on either side of the main entrance opposite the large stairway. This is the same room where Strange and Kaecilius first met in the first Doctor Strange, where Strange released Loki from perpetually falling in Thor: Ragnarok, where Iron Man, Wong, Hulk, and Strange talked about Thanos and the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Infinity War, and where Strange and Peter Parker first spoke about using a spell to make the world forget he was Spider-Man in No Way Home. Now, the comics have recreated the same interior space with Moon Knight asking Wong for information about his new supernatural threat known as the House of Shadows.

Moon Knight and Wong's hilarious exchange about the Midnight Sons aside, the interior is a dead ringer for the inside of the MCU's Sanctum Sanctorum. While it's only seen for a panel, the resemblance has to be intentional on Cappuccio's part. Not only is it a fun Easter egg, it also creates further connective tissue between the comics and what's happening in the films, something the comics are striving towards more and more with new titles.
While the inside of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum could look any number of different ways, mirroring the MCU's Sanctum is certainly a dynamic and entertaining choice. While this could just be a brief reference to the MCU as an Easter egg, it would certainly be interesting if it were to become a consistent depiction in future comics. Either way, it's a fun reference for fans to catch in this new issue of Moon Knight.
