The Real Housewives of New York City alum Carole Radziwill praised actor Will Smith for slapping comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars on Sunday night. Since Carole joined the franchise back in season 5, she has always had an opinion or thought about everything in the friend group. Once Carole left RHONY after six seasons, she began taking her thoughts to social media, except now, it doesn't always have to do with her friend group.
For years, Carole has taken to Twitter and Instagram to discuss her feelings toward former President Donald Trump and how he ran the country poorly. She also spoke about other politically-related subjects, which Carole is extremely passionate about and has been for many years. Now she is taking some of her thoughts to recent pop culture moments, such as the infamous Oscars slap that just occurred this weekend.
Following the Oscar slap that happened while the show was airing, Carole took to her Twitter account to give her thoughts on the surprising situation. "Wtf. Will Smith got beef with @chrisrock," the 58-year-old tweeted Sunday night. "Real gangsta s–t. And P. Diddy just saved the Night. Cool as a cucumber," Carole, who shades her RHONY costars, added alongside three crying-laughing emojis. Carole even compared the incident to The Real Housewives, a franchise she was once a part of. A fan tweeted about the slap, writing how they were surprised someone "can assault someone on live television on stage at the Oscars and just take your seat and watch the rest of the show." Carole then replied, "You’ve never seen a Housewife reunion." Carole was speaking about the viral Oscars moment that occurred during the live show on Sunday night.
Even though she had a lot to say about the surprising award show incident that took place over the weekend, Carole, who claimed Bethenny Frankel had special privileges, wasn't the only one commenting. What happened was Chris Rock took the stage to present an award while also providing some comic relief for the audience. Chris made an off-color joke about Will's wife, Jada Pickett-Smith, and her hair, referencing G.I. Jane 2, the new movie she stars in. In the past, Jada has opened up about her struggles with alopecia, which is likely why the joke struck a chord with Will. Chris has yet to comment on the incident; however, Will has. The actor has apologized to his fellow best actor nominees for his behavior but not Chris himself. Will made the apology while accepting his win for Best Actor in his film King Richard. Carole wasn't the only one who commented on the Oscar slap heard around the world. One Hollywood executive said he was "embarrassed for our industry," while others both applauded and shamed Will (via Page Six).
Carole has always kept up with recent events in politics and pop culture, and the 2022 Oscars was quite the pop culture moment. Plus, the former The Real Housewives of New York City star is used to witnessing a slap or two from her co-stars.
