Swamp Thing Is Becoming The Ultimate GREEN Lantern In New DC Comics Art

Warning! Spoilers for The Swamp Thing #14 by DC Comics below

In a new look at cover art for an upcoming chapter of the current Swamp Thing series at DC Comics, the Avatar of the Green gets a Green Lantern upgrade. In new cover art by Mike Perkins for The Swamp Thing #14, the hero can be seen reaching towards his chest, where a Green Lantern logo shines bright. While the cover might just be a tease of the Green Lantern's arrival in the series, seeing the two green heroes combine in the art makes for an incredible image.

Green Lantern and Swamp Thing are two of the greenest heroes in comics, but for totally different reasons. The Green Lantern Corps protect the universe with each member patrolling a different sector across the galaxy, as the power-ringed heroes can create green constructs with their power rings. Meanwhile, those who have become Swamp Thing are the protector and Avatar of the Green, who can control plant life and has a host of other incredible powers, including immortality, as long as there are vessels of the Green on Earth.

  • As the corruptive force of industry eats away at the Earth, the Green has called upon a deadly form of alien flora in a desperate and misguided attempt to wipe the slate clean. Swamp Thing’s attempts to save the planet from this alien plague quickly prove inadequate; it’s time for someone more experienced with spacebound threats to enter the fray: the Green Lantern!

While the cover art might just be a fun way to show the Green Lantern arriving in the series, as Swamp Thing might not get a cosmic upgrade in the book, it still makes for a striking tease for the upcoming comic. Mike Perkins' cover art for DC Comics is stunning and does a fabulous job combining Swamp Thing and Green Lantern. Readers can pick up a copy of The Swamp Thing #14 when the comic arrives in comic book stores in June.
