Pete Davidson Starring In New Comedy Series From SNL Creator

The King of Staten Island star Pete Davidson is set to headline his own series tentatively titled Bupkis from Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels. Davidson has been a regular cast member on SNL since 2014. The show is currently airing season 47. Davidson most recently appeared in the romantic comedy film I Want You Back and the big-budget DC movie The Suicide Squad. He will next be seen in the films Bodies Bodies Bodies, Good Mourning with a U, and Meet Cute.

According to Deadline, Davidson is set to play the lead role in the new Bupkis comedy series, which is said to be inspired by the actor's life. Davidson is co-writing the project alongside his long-time friend and creative partner Dave Sirus, with Judah Miller writing as well. Bupkis is called a raw, unflinching, fictionalized R-rated version of Davidson’s real life. The series will include a combination of grounded storytelling with more absurd elements in the mix as well.

Bupkis is being produced by Michaels’ Broadway Video and Universal Television. The series is being compared to Larry David’s show Curb Your Enthusiasmand talks are apparently underway with A-list actors and actresses for the ensemble cast that will be joining Davidson. Bupkis is currently looking for a home on streaming, though nothing is official yet. Considering Davidson's star power and the fact that A-list performers are being approached to join the show, it seems likely the new series won't have any trouble finding a place to air.
