How Old Jaden Smith Was In The Karate Kid

Sony's The Karate Kid featured a young Jaden Smith in its remake of the '80s original martial arts drama of the same name, but exactly how old was Smith when he portrayed the lead role of Dre Parker? The Karate Kid (2010) was quite distinct from the John G. Avildsen 1984 sensation that followed Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) to California where Okinawan immigrant Mr. Miyagi (Pat Morita) taught him the intricacies of karate. The Karate Kid (2010) was very much inspired by the original Karate Kid storyline and borrowed elements from the franchise, but, overall, the movie made some substantial creative changes that defined it as unique from the rest.
