The Conners Season 5 Is Making Darlene The Show’s New Roseanne

Warning: Spoilers for The Conners season 5, episode 5.In The Conners season 5, Darlene is finally beginning to replace Roseanne in the sitcom's matriarchal role, and that's a good thing for the spinoff. For much of its existence, The Conners has had a hard time saying goodbye to the Roseanne character. Since the outspoken antiheroine was at the center of Roseanne, it was tricky for the spinoff to retool the show in her absence. However, The Conners season 5 has referenced Roseanne regularly without getting sentimental or bitter, proving that the sitcom has come to terms with the late character’s legacy.
