But part of the reason the MCU is so successful is that they are willing to show these superheroes as flawed. And in some cases, it makes fans question if these characters deserve to be idolized.

The Thor movie series has introduced a variety of characters, of which some have become fan-favorites, such as Lady Sif (Jamie Alexander), who also has one big Asgardian record, which at the same time, makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Lady Sif failures even worse. Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has become the first MCU hero to get four solo movies, and his latest adventure, Thor: Love & Thunder , reunited him and viewers with characters from his previous movies, such as Lady Sif.

It's fascinating to imagine which sides the MCU's heroes would have picked had Captain America: Civil War happened in Phase 4. In the comics, the passing of the Super Human Registration Act tore the superhero community apart. It all culminated in a spectacular battle in Times Square, as the teleporter Cloak unwittingly transported two small armies of warring heroes into New York. Captain America: Civil War was based on the same idea, but it had a rather smaller scale; there were far fewer heroes in the MCU at that point. The passing of the MCU's Sokovia Accords certainly led to a spectacular action sequence in the memorable airport battle, but it lacked that sheer sense of scale seen in the comics.

The first half of the movie presents a series of red herrings in which it is hard not to wonder whether Bill Skarsgård's Barbarian character, Keith , is a kind stranger for letting Tess stay for the night or a man with sinister, ulterior motives. However, when Tess discovers a secret room in the rental's basement and a long stretch of tunnels connected to it, it becomes evident that Keith is nowhere close to being Barbarian 's antagonist, and that more chilling dangers await Tess in the rental from hell.

In its second weekend at the domestic box office, Black Adam has already passed the $100 million mark. Black Adam is the latest DCEU film to release, opening on October 21. The film, which reunites star Dwayne Johnson with Jungle Cruise director Jaume Collet-Serra, follows the origin story of the titular antihero, a former slave from Kahndaq who is given godlike powers and released from imprisonment after 5,000 years. In the modern day, he encounters the Justice Society of America, which includes Hawkman (Aldis Hodge), Doctor Fate (Pierce Brosnan), Cyclone (Quintessa Swindell), and Atom Smasher (Noah Centineo).
