The Game Awards 2021 Predictions For Big Game Announcements

Geoff Keighley is set to take the stage at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on Thursday, December 9th to host the annual Game Awards, with plenty of big announcements set to feature. The award ceremony honors achievements in the video game industry, along with world premiere title announcements, with previous GAs providing fans with their first looks at games like Elden Ring. With this year's Game Awards now only a few days away, anticipation is rising for what new gaming titles could be announced, with rumors surrounding announcements sequels and new properties alike.

One such sequel that could see more reveals is Dragon Age 4. The chances of fans catching a new Dragon Age trailer are decent, as EA's CFO Blake Jorgen disclosed that the game could release in 2023. A potential trailer could be a good chance for fans to see just how much progress has happened and possibly reassure them that the sequel is on the right track. Another chance for EA to shine could be the possibility of a new Mass Effect announcement. Mass Effect 4 was teased with a poster on N7 Day in November, meaning a new announcement could be right around the corner.

Some Sony PlayStation exclusives have the chance to take the spotlight at the Game Awards, with a potential new Silent Hills game receiving lots of speculation. Following the release of Death Stranding Director's Cut, Kojima Productions is said to be working on the next Silent Hill game as well as a follow-up to Death Stranding, and it's possible that both Keighley and Hideo Kojima have something up their sleeves for the awards ceremony. As the most anticipated Sony title, God of War Ragnarok may also receive a new trailer or gameplay preview, and it's even possible that Insomniac may show more of its Marvel Universe with Marvel's Spider-Man 2, following its reveal in September's PlayStation showcase.

Xbox and Microsoft also has ample opportunity to shine, with more info on Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 potentially coming at the Game Awards. The game's first appearance was at 2019's Game Awards show, so it would make sense for it to feature again at this year's ceremony. Another beloved title fans would love to see is Fable 4. Originally unveiled in June 2020, the project has only received a short teaser so far, meaning a more detailed look could be planned.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2 is one of the most highly anticipated Nintendo titles, but no new information regarding it has been released since E3 2021. While this is not too long to go without any new details, Breath of the Wild is set to release in 2022 and Nintendo has only provided brief glimpses of it so far. Rumors indicate that BOTW2 may feature at the Game Awards though, so fans may not have to wait long to discover more about its story.

There are plenty of already announced games that could receive in-depth looks at the Game Awards, but also rumored projects that are yet to receive an official reveal. Many Star Wars fans are eagerly awaiting their first look at Respawn's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel, while Naughty Dog is said to be developing a remake of The Last of Us. Either way, expect a lot of announcements to be crammed into the Game Awards 2021's 90-minute runtime.
