To unlock the Shiny Charm, players must complete the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Sinnoh Pokédex. This entails players seeing and capturing all 150 Pokémon in the region. After doing this, players will need to head over to the Hotel Grand Lake, where an NPC will give the player the Shiny Charm as a reward.

Players can also increase their odds by getting the Diglett Bonus in the Grand Underground. When exploring the Grand Underground, players may come across a Diglett or Dugtrio. Collecting 40 of them will give players increased Shiny Odds for 4 minutes. Using the Shiny Charm to breed for Shiny Pokémon makes it much easier to obtain them.
