Pokémon BDSP: Where To Find The Shiny Charm (& What It's For)

The Shiny Charm is a Key Item in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl for players to unlock. Players interested in Shining Hunting will want to look for the Shiny Charm as quickly as possible. Shiny Pokémon were introduced in the series back in Pokémon Gold and Silver. While Shiny Pokémon don't have any stats or ability changes, they feature a unique color variation and display a sparkle when sent out in battle. What makes them so interesting is how incredibly rare they are. In Pokémon BSDP, the chances of finding a Shiny Pokémon is 1/4096 and is one of the reasons why players want to seek out the Shiny Charm as quickly as possible.

Players looking to Shiny Hunt will want to get the Shiny Charm because it will increase the odds of finding a Shiny Pokémon from 1/4096 to 1/360. However, it's important to mention that this is just a reflection of the basic Shiny odds. There are many other ways to increase Shiny Odds in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, but finding the Shiny Charm is the best place to start.

To unlock the Shiny Charm, players must complete the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Sinnoh Pokédex. This entails players seeing and capturing all 150 Pokémon in the region. After doing this, players will need to head over to the Hotel Grand Lake, where an NPC will give the player the Shiny Charm as a reward.

The Shiny Charm is an item that players will always have active as there is no way to turn off its ability after the player obtains it. After completing the Pokédex, players should also head to Pal Park and talk to Professor Rowan. This is also how players can get the Poké Radar, another Key Item that is valuable for Shiny Hunting.

This Poké Radar allows players to search for specific wild Pokémon in the grass. If players create a chain by encountering the same Pokémon repeatedly, this will increase the odds of it being a Shiny Pokémon. It's important to mention that the Shiny Charm does not increase the chance of Shiny Pokémon appearing through wild encounters. This item will only work on the Shiny Odds of Pokémon that are bred. Players can also increase their odds by getting the Diglett Bonus in the Grand Underground. When exploring the Grand Underground, players may come across a Diglett or Dugtrio. Collecting 40 of them will give players increased Shiny Odds for 4 minutes. Using the Shiny Charm to breed for Shiny Pokémon makes it much easier to obtain them.
