Schmigadoon! Stars & Co-Creator Give Hopeful Season 3 Update After Ambiguous Ending

Warning! This article contains spoilers for the Schmigadoon! season 2 finale.Schmigadoon! season 3 gets an optimistic update from its lead stars and co-creator. In the Schmigadoon! season 2 finale, Melissa (Cecily Strong) and Josh (Keegan-Michael Key) return to New York City. A quick epilogue reveals that, after years of struggling to conceive, the duo finally have a baby. It's a satisfying send-off for the show's central couple on the whole, but the closing musical number warns against the idea of happy endings. Just before Josh and Melissa leave Schmicago, they're told in song form that "happy endings don't exist."
