Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae explains why he's saddened by the show's success. Ever since it premiered on Netflix, the South Korean survival series has quickly turned into one of the most popular television series in recent memory. Although the premise — which sees a bunch of financially desperate characters competing in deadly games for a chance at a big cash prize — is familiar, the dystopian action series took both audiences and critics by storm, revitalizing international dramas along the way.
