Why Survivor’s New Era Negotiation Segment Is Flawed

One of the recurring aspects of Survivor's "new era" is the post-merge negotiation for food, which has achieved mixed results. Negotiations aren't new for the CBS series, as Jeff Probst has allowed contestants to barter with him for food since the earliest seasons of the show. Some of the most iconic Survivor moments have taken place during negotiations between contestants and Probst, including the iconic David vs. Goliath rice negotiation featuring Angelina Keeley.
